DISCLAIMER: Me no own, u no sue.
AUTHOR NOTE: I was watching Children of the Corn when I wrote this, and noticed that after a fight with Isaac, Malachai ran out of the corn unhappily. This is from his POV of the argument and running through the corn.
"Does he speak to you Isaac?" I asked. Mental slap to the forehead. That was the dumbest thing I ever said.
"He speaks to me always, but today He is displeased. He is displeased you Malachai!" He replied cruelly.
That sure caught my attention back. My head sprang up, "What have I done?"
"Question Him not in vain! You know that you did sacrifice Joesph without an offering? And did you not spill the blood of the old man when his oil and gasoline were still useful to us?"
"We have our own fuel now, from the corn." Another mental slap to the forehead. Why does my mouth move faster than my brain?
"Show not your pride, Malachai. We have not enough." He smiled cruelly.
I swallowed hard, knowing I would lose this battle. I thought up a weak argument. "Maybe He is displeased that we have not offered Him Sarah and Job." Weak, weak argument. Came out alot more powerful than I thought it would, though.
"Sarah has the gift of sight! She warned us of the coming of the interlopers. Question not my judgement, Malachai. I am the giver of His word." Isaac said, and turned to show that the conversation was over. "Go you and bring me the husband. We must offer them tonight, when Amos leaves."
That did it. He sent me to get the wife and I got her. I turned and fled to the corn, trying to hide my face from the others. The corn slapped at my face and my arms. The sting felt good. "Damn Isaac! Why is he the one they listen to?!?! I am the strong one, the feared one! Why do the listen to that midget with the high voice? Why, why, why?" I know, bad habit. I talk to myself, though not in front of the others. They already think I am different enough. "Wait a sec." I stopped mid-stride. "Did he say 'She warned us of the coming of the interlopers'? I thought earlier he had implyed that He Who Walks Behind the Rows showed him that they were coming. Does he really have dreams of the Lord?" I laughed quietly. Now I had ammo. Maybe I can win the next fight...and injure Isaac in the process.
A/N: I have the same bad habit. I thought of that thing about Isaac and Him. It was wierd that in the room after Malachai showed him Sarah's picture of the car he said 'They come already.' implying that he knew they were coming. But later he said 'She warned us of the coming of the interlopers' implying that he didn't know until after he saw it. Well isn't Malachai a potty mouth? He cussed Isaac out in the corn. Well, review. Come on, you know you want to.
