For a long moment none of them moved, nobody breathed.
The building regrets she'd carried with her up the stairs and across the common room; all the apologises she'd reluctantly planned out; the 'yes' she even more reluctantly dredged up the courage to say. Vanished. Slowly, her hand still on the doorknob Lily Evans quite forgot herself. "Well." She said simply, looking at Sirius Black and James Potter who were staring up at her with fevered boy eyes.

"Well." She repeated blankly, looking not at all upset. "This is . . . odd." And she closed the door and hurried down the stairs, feeling quite relieved.
