Chapter 2: The Family Secret
Kagome hugged her tightly and then took a good look at her. "You haven't changed a bit." "Ya right, of course I have." "How so?" "It's just the way I think is all. Hey you want to go out and do stuff?" "Sure just let me go home and change and drop off my bike." "I'll meet you around 4:30 ok?" "Ok, see ya." Kagome went home and got herself ready. Setsuna sped off. It was 3:15 when she got home. As she pulled up she noticed her father's car in front of the house. "Crap I was hoping he wouldn't be here. She went inside without a word to her 'father' laid down on her bed and drifted off to sleep. She then remembered what had happened the last time she had seen her "father".
*Flashback*
She hated the look he gave them all. He acted so nice but ever since she could remember, in the depths of his eyes there was a look of hatred in them. She never knew why until three weeks ago, then it all became clear to her. She confronted him. "What dear?" "Why didn't you ever tell us what mother was?" Her grandmother dropped her plate and her brothers looked up. "What do you mean dear?"
She slammed her fist on the table next to her and it broke like a twig. Her appearance changed. Her eyes were no longer emerald green. Her eyes became as red as blood and her pupils became slits. She grew both taller and broader. The collar, sleeve, and side areas of her shirt ripped at the seam and was held together by a few threads. The thigh area of her pants also ripped at the seam and were barely held together. Her sneakers ripped so much so that you could barely tell that they were sneakers. She had to have grown at least two inches. Her hair was black and had turned crimson red down the middle of her skull. She grew black dog-ears and a black tail that also had crimson red streak of fur down the middle "You know damn well what I mean!" she screamed "Or does this jog your memory!"
He turned deathly pale. "Oh that" Setsuna took a step forward, the ground seemed to shake. "Oh, that is all you got to say! Then you also lied about our true father! First, you do not tell us that our mother was a shadow demon and our father is a fire dog demon! Then you tricked us into becoming demon slayers. You...you bastard! I believe the reason why you lied is because you are ashamed that you can't have children!"
Her grandmother spoke. "Nicholas, why...why did you tell her the truth?" Her brothers stared wide-eyed at her. Her 'father' turned blood red. "You BITCH!" He punched her upside the head so hard it knocked her down. Setsuna started to cry. "I am the one who fed you, who clothed you, and gave you shelter! I am the one who is allowing you to become a priestess at this shrine. I am in charge of your life till you are 18 do you understand." Setsuna shot him a death glare. "Go ahead kill me it won't do you any good. It will only turn your fellow demon slayers against you and you know you will be hunted down like the animal you are." "Why lie?" tears in her eyes "Because your tramp mother lied to me cheated on me and by the time I found out she was pregnant with that bastards fourth child! And before I could divorce that whore she died that's why!" Setsuna ran up to her room. Her 'father' took off. "Was that all true grandmother?" "Ya, was it?" "I'm afraid so." "So we are all demons except dad." "Yes we are, your powers haven't been released yet, but I can teach you how to remove and place the spell that binds your powers and makes you appear human." "Alright."
She showed them how to do it. They were quick learners. After they were done, they asked her something she did not want to tell. "So how'd all this happen?" "Well, it all started 5 months after your mother and 'father' got married. She was sitting home alone, your 'father' was gone to work and I to a house call. Your real father Nicholas staggered into the house. He was badly injured. Your mother fell in love with him on sight and he with her. Three days later, when he was all better he looked at her with burning desire and she to him. I knew what was going to happen. So, I pulled her aside. I pleaded with her but she just said 'I cannot help but love this man and he is so kind' I said 'but you mustn't for your marriages sake.' She said 'I know but I'm so lonely besides he'll never find out.' She left with him then. That night you were conceived Michael. When you were born, before your father seen you we cast a spell on you. Their relationship was kept a secret, which was not hard since your father was always away. Then Josh and Setsuna came and we casted spells on them. Then after nine months after Shawn was conceived your 'father' caught them, he had come home as a surprise. He and Nicholas fought but before any real damage was done your mother split them up and sent Nicholas away. Your 'father' took off later that night after they had argued. That's how it happened."
"So Nicholas is our real father?" "Aye." "So where is he now?" "He is dead now." "How and when?" "Recently, I can't tell you how." "A shadow demon is a psychic and has power over the shadows. That would explain Setsuna's psychic dreams." "So why don't we have them?" "You forget your training too easily. Only female shadow demons have psychic powers." "Oh yea, that's right." Setsuna cried as she listened to her grandmother and sibling's conversation.
*End flashback*
She awoke later. She glanced at her clock. It was 4:20, she was going to be late. She rushed down stairs hollered bye and took off. Kagome was standing outside. Setsuna was late. She was NEVER late. Maybe something happened. Just as she was about to go inside and call, she pulled up. "What took you so long?" "Sorry I fell asleep, you got money?" "Yea." "Ok then let's go." Kagome's mom waved goodbye to them as they sped off.
(author note: Ok I know its still a little bit boring but at least it had some action in it. I promise that it definitely will get really good in the 3rd and 4th chapters especially the fourth.) Please review.
