Chapter 6
The Comforting Beasts
He hated every second of it. He hated to see her cry. He hated to see her cry herself too sleep. He hated to see her cry in her sleep. He would get revenge for his woman that night. While she slept. He would bring her Inuyasha's head by morning! He slept then, it was a restless sleep. He awoke later that night. He went outside and looked at the moon. Her majesty Luna was full and red, signifying the start of bloodshed. He went back in and looked at his future 'wife'. She was still crying, asleep, but crying none the less.
He kissed her on the forehead and gently whispered in her ear. "Kagome, I will bring you the head of the one who has caused you such pain by morning I promise." He whispered gently. He kissed her once more and went back outside and howled at the moon. He went alone to slay Inuyasha. Before he left he left Patch and Spike specific instructions to watch Kagome and make sure that she stayed safe.
After about 20 minutes of running he arrived at Kaede's Village. He slowly approached Inuyasha's sleeping form. When he was about 5 feet from him he drew his sword and continued to approach Inuyasha. When he was about 1 foot away Inuyasha's ears twitched. Kouga swung his sword. Inuyasha's eyes opened and he managed to block with Tessiega still in its scabbard. In a lightning quick moment Kouga backed off a few feet and Inuyasha drew his sword and the sword fight had begun.
(I'm just gonna warn you I suck at fight scenes.) Inuyasha was speaking to him angrily now, "Why have you attacked me wimpy wolf and where is Kagome? Sango saw you carry her off and told me everything!" Kouga replied with, "She's in a safe place. Which is away from you! You molesting pathetic excuse for a half dog!" They continued fighting, while shouting loud insults toward one another. (scene change)
Kagome woke up. It took her a moment to realize where she was and that Kouga was gone. She heard Patch and Spike talking so she went and asked them where he was. They said they didn't know but before he left he had whispered something to her in her sleep. That's when she remembered what he had said. She had been faintly awake when he said it to her. She was in so much pain at the time that she hadn't understood him. Now she understood fully and her eyes grew wide with shock. All she could think about then was to stop him.
Suddenly she spoke to Patch and Spike, "Hey Patch, Spike," They answered her at the same time. "Yes Nee-san?" "Will you guys take me to see Inuyasha pretty please?" She asked and fluttered her eyelids looking sweet and innocent. Patch spoke then, "I don't know you need you rest and it is awfully late." Spike spoke then too, "Yea and Kouga told us to watch you and make sure that you are safe."
Kagome was now walking off. Patch and Spike both spoke at the same time, "Where are you going?" Kagome answered, "To see Inuyasha." Patch spoke, "But if you don't stay here then how are we going to watch over you?" Spike then spoke, "And protect you?" Kagome only replied with, "I guess you'll have to follow me then won't you." She continued to walk off. Spike asked Patch a question, "What should we do? If we let her leave and don't follow her and Kouga finds out he'll....Hey! Where are you going?" Patch had run of in the middle of Spike's sentence and answered him by saying, "I don't want to find out the rest of that sentence!" Spike stood there for a second with a @_@'d face then he sprinted off following Patch and shouted, "Hey wait for me!"
Kagome ran as fast as she could. 'She couldn't let Kouga kill Inuyasha!' she thought as images of him telling her he would bring her his head flashed through her mind. (Which do I choose Kagome makes it in time and saves our hero or she doesn't and our hero dies at the hands of Kouga? *Like that would ever happen way OOC* I'm joking with you. I already know the answer but I'm not telling you got to read it for yourself. Oh well now own to the next chapter. Bye bye! Just kidding! You all would kill me for sure if I did that. *Dodges the various objects being thrown at her for tricking them*) Kagome ran as fast as she could. She hoped she would get there in time. (scene change)
Kouga was exploiting his advantage in speed as best as he could. Every chance he got he used it well. Every time Inuyasha staggered or lost his balance, he was rewarded by sharp blows, mainly delivered to his head and gut. Inuyasha knew he couldn't win with speed or strength. His defense was weakening and wouldn't hold out much longer. He could sorta figure out (amazing....I'm sorry I know he's cute and all but he ain't that bright) why Kouga called him a molester but he was asleep for crying out loud! Plus what was Kagome doing sneaking back in the middle of the night anyways?
If that old bat Kaede hadn't grabbed his ear he could have stopped Kagome from running away. He shouted angrily then, "I'll get that old bat if it's the last thing I do!" Sango hit him over the head with Hirikoutsu and said, "Shut-up! This is all your fault!" Shippou piped up then, "Yea if it weren't for you and Kouga Kagome wouldn't have run away!" Inuyasha sent him a death glare. Shippou eeped and hid behind Sango who gave him one right back.
Kouga popped out of no where and sucker punched him. Inuyasha was now kneeling in front of Kouga coughing up blood. It was almost sunrise. Kouga noticed and spoke, "If I hurry I can keep my promise to Kagome." Inuyasha was confused by this and asked, "What promise?" Kouga answered him smirking, "My promise to bring her your head by morning." Kouga lifted up his sword to deal the final blow. Inuyasha had become deathly pale. He was devastated. Everyone had heard Kouga and had gasped in unison instantly. Inuyasha whispered something to himself, "If its my head she wants then I'll give it to her." All the life had drained from his amber eyes and a single tear slid down his cheek.
Kagome appeared over a nearby hill at that precise moment, when Kouga had begun to swing down his sword. The sight horrified her very existence. She tried to think of what she could do. Her thoughts raced panicking. (I can't write no more its too much suspense!!!) *looks at readers who are preparing two throw very sharp and very heavy objects at her* (On second thought maybe I can) She then thought of the one thing she could do. As time slowly passed through her mind in slow motion. "SIT!"
Inuyasha went flying to the ground. Kouga had missed him by a hair. (LITERALLY!) Kagome ran towards them as fast as she possibly could. Everyone could only stare at her. As soon as she got to them she grabbed Inuyasha and held his head on her lap. Inuyasha and everyone else were completely and utterly shocked. (I don't blame 'em I'd do the same if I were in their position.) Semi putting herself between Inuyasha and Kouga. Kouga managed to ask her, "What are you doing?" She answered him tears in her eyes, (I don't blame her I'd be crying too matter of fact I'm so into this I'm crying too. I mean Inuyasha dying. It's enough to make any Inu fan girl grab the Inu fan girl next to her and cry an ocean of tears!) "I don't want you to kill him or harm him in any way!"
They stared at each other for a while. Kouga finally sighed and said, "Alright. Hey dog boy don't ever touch my woman again or I won't go easy on you the next time." Inuyasha who was now out of shock said, "Oh yea, well ...." Kagome had covered his mouth. She looked at him and said, "Inuyasha just don't please just don't." He look into her sad eyes and took her hand and said, "Alright Kagome, I won't." Kagome said a thank you and Inuyasha stood up pulling her with him. (scene change)
Setsuna woke up in a cold sweat screaming. Every nerve in her body on edge. She had a dream vision. No It was something else. She saw what was happening between Inuyasha and Kouga like she was there. The last thing she saw before she woke up was Kagome standing in horror as Kouga swung his sword to behead Inuyasha. She wept for she thought of him as a friend and his being alive was very important in the battle with Naraku. (AN: Yay all done now. For this chappie anyways. I'm going to bed now. Bye Bye)
