Title: Andromeda Ficlet (couldn't think of anything more imaginative, sorry!)
Author: Welly
Summary: Harper angst, intruders force their way onto Andromeda…
408 words- started as a drabble but grew to a ficlet…
Sparky added note: Could do with a sequel, wouldn't you agree? :)
"Rommie", shouted Dylan, "help us out here, how many intruders are on board?"
A fuzzy hologram appeared and then disappeared again.
"Someone's tampering with her holographic projection systems!" cried Harper.
"We can't hold this door much longer guys" said Beka. She and Tyr were stood against the door, trying to keep the aliens out.
"I'll help", offered Trance, going over to the door.
"It's no use!" said Beka as the door slid open and eight aliens burst in. The five crew members of the Andromeda instinctively pulled out their weapons, and pointed them at the aliens. The aliens pulled out their weapons and did the same.
"We are here to take your ship", said the leader of the aliens.
"You're not touching my ship", spat Dylan.
The lead alien scanned the other four crew, and when he saw Beka, he dropped to his knees. The other aliens followed suit, and bowed.
"What are you doing?" asked Dylan.
"You have women on your ship" said the alien.
"Yes", said Dylan, "They're part of my crew."
"They serve you?"
"Yes."
"We must leave", said the alien, standing up.
"Yes", said Dylan, "Leave."
The lead alien suddenly grabbed Harper, and span him round to face the rest of his crew. Harper tried to pull the alien's arm from around his neck, but the aliens grip was too tight. Harper considered biting the alien's arm, but soon realised that his teeth wouldn't get through the thick top. The alien shot Harper in the hand and he cried out in pain, pulling his hand to his chest.
"Let him go", warned Dylan.
"I will", said the alien, "when we get back to the airlock."
At that the aliens marched out the room, dragging Harper with them. The rest of the Andromeda crew followed, they wanted to make sure Harper was okay. As the aliens approached the airlock, Harper tried again to break free of the alien's grip, and he did escape. He'd got a few metres down the corridor, before the alien took out his weapon and shot Harper in the back. Harper fell forward, and Beka caught him. She gently laid him on the ground, while Dylan and Tyr shot at the aliens. A few seconds later, they'd disappeared in the airlock, and de-docked.
Harper groaned slightly.
"It's okay", said Beka, looking at the extensive burn marks on Harper's back.
"It hurts", cried Harper, quietly.
"I know", said Beka, "but it's gonna be ok."
Harper closed his eyes, and passed out.
