This is the sequel to my poem "Gone" - it's not necessary to read it first, although it may help later.
My Journey Home
Looking out across the shore,
I feel my heart tighten with anticipation,
knowing that my sweet release lay but a short journey from me,
that what is gone, is not really gone,
it is merely waiting for me to catch up.
there across the sea,
he calls to me,
like a beacon calling me home,
calling me into his arms.
Although I leave my whispering willows,
my safe haven, and my friends behind,
it has been this yearning within me
that has kept me alive.
This yearning for him.
With a last look at my home,
the only home I have ever known,
I feel no sadness,
for I know that my true home
lies across the sea.
With my final step,
I walk away from the familiar,
I walk towards the unknown,
alone and scared,
comforted with the knowledge that
I am making my final journey,
My journey home.
