Chapter 2-Diagon Alley

When Lily and I sat down at the table the only other ones there are our moms.

"Where are the boys?" I asked.

"They should be coming down soon," says my mother while picking up her spoon. Tonight we're dining on really good vegetable soup. When our bowls are half empty Rem, Sirius, and James arrived.

"Where have you guys been?" I asked looking up from my bowl, Lily looks up to.

"We were working on some school stuff," said Remus taking the seat next to me so Sirius and James are forced to sit across the table directly in front of me and Lily. I noticed that throughout dinner Sirius and James glance in my and Lily's direction.

'So, are you two going to go for that walk?' Rem mentally (telepathically) asks me.

'I think I'm going to, but I'm not sure if Lily will. James wasn't exactly the nicest person to her last year.'

'He really likes her. She should give him a chance.'

'Yeah,' I think to myself 'She should.'

Out of the corner of my eye I see Lily place her spoon in her bowl, clean her mouth of with her napkin and sit back contentedly.

"Well, Lily, did you want to go for that walk before it got too late?" I half ask her, half state.

"Sure. We'll be back before it gets to dark. Ok?" she asks while turning to our moms. "Sure, just make sure you don't walk into Nockturn Alley," her mother says after taking a sip out of her cup.

"We won't," we reply together, and then turn to head for the entrance of Diagon Alley. About ten minutes later James and Sirius spot us in Flourish and Blots and head into the shop.

"I'm gonna go up to the second level," I tell Lily as I start to walk up the stairs.

I find a book I like on Dragons and plop down into a rather large squishy armchair to read it.

"Hey beautiful," I hear in my ear while Sirius' arms wrap around my neck.

I set the book in my lap, turn around and lightly kiss Sirius.

"Hi," I say slowly pulling away from him.

I put the book down and he leads me to the first floor. We see Lily holding James' hand and I knew she was starting to fall for him. I take Sirius' hand and walk out into Diagon Alley. I say hi to girls I know from school (Stephani, Miranda, Lydia, and some others). As we're looking at cats and owls we hear a slightly off voice say,

"Hello Chloe. Did you have a good summer?"

"I don't believe she has to answer you, Malfoy." Luscious Malfoy had just entered the shop and was staring at me. He apparently didn't care what Sirius said because he restated his question and took a couple of steps toward me.

"Did you have a good summer, Chloe?"

"I spent the summer with my boyfriend," I retorted as I slipped my arm around Sirius' waist. Sirius followed my lead and placed his arm around my shoulders. We then walked out of the pet emporium stifling laughter.

Lily and I are lying on our beds. Neither of us has said a word since I walked in the room. I finally sit up and ask, "So, how'd your date go?"

"It was a little…awkward," she answered, lying perfectly still.

"What do you mean by 'awkward'?"

"I don't know. He seemed so…sweet all of a sudden. I've never seen that side of James before. It was really…nice," she finished that last part with a smile firmly planted on her face.

"You're totally falling for him! Aren't you?"

"I guess…I am."

For most of the night we talked about our "dates". Finally at midnight we decided to turn out the lights and go to sleep. In the morning the boys greeted us outside our room so that they could escort us down to breakfast, with a little help from me and Rem mind talking.
