What must be done….
(She just pushes him aside when I yearn for his attention and he ignores me so completely. I want him at all costs. I need him at all costs. If only he wasn't so blind. Doesn't he remember me? How he was my savior? I will make him mine. I can only hope that our next encounter will be of better circumstances.) Ayame thought to her self. Ayame sat up and made her way to where the human who had stole her fiancé's heart had been with her group of travelers.Ayame made her way to the group and watched them eat and talk. The topic was nothing important. Kagome had said she didn't love Kouga when Ayame had last seen her. Ayame knew she was lying no one did not like Kouga. Human or demon. Ayame continued to watch and finally they went to sleep. They woke-up and started again on their journey. Ayame had been following them for a week and had not slept or ate anything and was very malnourished. Ayame began to fall behind the unsuspecting group of travelers. She convinced herself that this was good and that it would just help her hide from them even better now.
Ayame began to feel very light headed. And soon went unconscious falling to the group with a mild thump but that was enough for InuYasha's dog hearing and her turned around and started to go back to investigate. InuYasha found Ayame her breathing Shallow and steady. Night fell and Kagome, Sango, and Miroku had fed Ayame and she was looking better. InuYasha went out to get food for the group.
Ayame slowly opened her eyes to find herself with the enemy and being treated well. Kouga soon evaded her thoughts and she couldn't believe that she was sitting there like that with them. (Maybe this Kagome isn't too bad) Ayame thought to herself while looking at the human smiling kindly at her. (What about Kouga?) Asked an inner voice to its counter part. (Why doesn't he like me? That human is not better looking..She might be kinder but we are demons and if we must survive we are not kind) The normal Ayame thought. Kagome stared at her while she looked very deep in thought. But the fight continued in Ayame's head. (She would not survive if she didn't mate with Kouga because that foolish dog demon would probably be killed very soon) (So what am I supposed to do?) (What else? Do what must be done)(Right) Ayame sat up looking very sick on purpose. Kagome looked at her.
"Could I talk to Kagome alone?" Ayame asked.
"Sure" Kagome replied and waved the other two into the forest while InuYasha was still out giving them the instructions to find him before he hurts some unsuspecting stranger. Once they were alone Ayame made her move. Ayame leaned close to the fire.
"Why doesn't Kouga like me?" Ayame whispered to Kagome but it was more of a statement than a question.
"I don't know" Kagome whispered to Ayame. Ayame slowly crawled over to where Kagome sat and hugged her. Kagome hugged back and Ayame slowly reached over and grabbed a dagger that she had stolen from an innocent on looker. Ayame thrust the dagger into Kagome's back and watched as Kagome hunched over with no more life energy.
Ayame slowly got up and ventured into the forest. Later in time she went to Kouga's den. He found out about the murder and was enraged. Kouga rejected Ayame and banished her from his cave and said that he didn't ever want to see her again. She left sadder than ever and died a long and lonely life. All alone.
