I wrote this for Seven's Board for the extended November drabble challenge. I don't own Liam, E:FC or anything else to do with Gene Roddenbury's creation. I just own my plot bunnies and they're enough!

Drabble and a Half: Christmas Musings

Liam looked out over his desk through the virtual glass at the snowy scene before him, a perfect white Christmas. He'd drawn the short straw among the Protectors as the new 'kid' on the block and had to spend the day at the embassy.

At the back of his mind, he could feel flashes of his mother's holiday memories filled with snowball fights, decorations, and carols. He pushed it all away. Da'an couldn't understand his desire to be visibly excited like a human child would be about Christmas, couldn't connect with the emotions behind it. Lily and Augur would be uncomfortable with any such childish confession and Doors' reaction to anything of the sort would be derisive, though humorous to watch, Liam admitted sadly.

So Liam finished off reports and took updates from Volunteers on the mother ship and smaller embassies, wistfully wondering if his life could ever include the kind of holiday cheer his mother and, heck, even his father had known at some point in their lives.
