Johnny's POV
"Johnny, do you know where you are?" A booming voice, but calming voice said to me. There was a light blinding my vision, I was glad, I didn't want to look whoever was speaking in the eyes.
"N-n-no." I said, I wanted to know though, "W-w-here am I?" The light slowly started to fade away.
"John Cade, you have entered eternal life. Welcome." The voice said. I'm in heaven? I couldn't believe it. I went to heaven, not to hell. How is this possible? I couldn't get the thought out of my mind.
I started to cry, I wasn't sad, just confused. "How come I ain't in hell?" I sobbed. "I killed that Soc."
"Here, all debts are forgiven, I see know difference between Greasers and Socs. Everyone is equal here. You're a good man Johnny; don't let anyone tell you otherwise."
Well, at least I'm away from the old man. That was the one thought that made the tears on my face melt away. I could see a figure emerging, more bright lights behind it. The figure slowly came into view, a man. God? A dream? Or was I just high? The man had gray hair, and a long silver beard to match. "Glory," I whispered, "are you God?"
I have absolutely know idea how he could have heard me, I could barely hear myself. "Yes, yes I am." He paused a long time and ran his hand down his beard. "Tell me something Johnny, if you could have one thing, what it be?" He looked me in the eye, I hated when people looked me in the eye. It scared me like you wouldn't believe.
"I…I would want…to…." No one had ever asked me that before. No one outside the gang ever really wanted to hear what I thought. "I would just want to let Dally and Ponyboy know that if it weren't for them, I woulda been gone a whole lot sooner." And that was the truth. I would have just let go right after that Soc beat me up. I could of, I was thinking about it.
"Hey…and could you just make sure that Dal doesn't get into to much trouble? He's not a bad kid," I added.
He said in that same deep voice, "I'll let you do that." He then turned around and walked away into the mist. As soon as he was out of sight, I felt a strong hand on my shoulder, it made me jump. I whipped around to see…Dal?
"Dally? Are you," I swallowed, chocking back a lump in my throat, "are you dead?" My voice was quieter then I thought it would be. His dark brown eyes didn't show that feeling of hatred I'd seen in his eyes so many times before.
His hand still on my shoulder, he said, content as could be, "Yeah, but that doesn't matter, we've got each other right here right now." I was a little confused, but he was here. We were here. "Come on kid, let's go watch the sunset."
