A/N: This is my first story, well I wrote one once but I deleted it because it was so horrible. Please read and review!
It was a gray, rainy morning, horrible for a Quidditch game, thought Ron as he left the dormitory. Ron met up with Harry in the common room and they went down to breakfast together.
"So, think about that dance at all?" said Harry as they entered the Great Hall. Dumbledore had told them the night before that there was going to be a dance in two weeks for fourth years and above.
Ron looked at the ground. "Um… yeah, I did."
"And? Who are you asking?"
"Uh, well, I dunno… I…"
"Spit it out!"
"Well, I… I'd really like to go with… with Hermione." Ron said that very quickly as though he was embarrassed.
"Aw, how come you never told me?" said Harry, though he didn't look angry.
"I… I thought you'd laugh!"
Harry smiled. "C'mon, Ron. You two would be so cute together!"
"You really think so?"
"Yeah, I… Oh, here she comes!"
Ron turned around. Harry was right. She was there, walking right toward them.
"Hey, guys," said Hermione as she sat down between the two boys.
"Hi, Hermione," said Harry, nudging Ron.
"Hey," mumbled Ron, looking at his food.
Hermione looked concernedly over at him. Harry shrugged, and then smiled.
"Well, I'd better get going. I gotta get to the locker rooms soon. See you later!" said Harry as he got up to leave.
"Uh… I'd better come with you. I have to… um… Bye, Hermione," said Ron with a stutter.
"Bye, you two! Good luck, Harry!" Hermione waved goodbye.
"What was that?" said Harry, smiling.
"What? You can't leave me alone with her! I… I'm not ready!"
"Oh, come on, you gotta ask her sometime!"
"I told you, I'm not ready!" Ron shouted. "Who are you going with, anyway?"
"None of your business," said Harry with a grin.
"Come on, I told you!"
"I don't really know, anyway," said Harry, thoughtfully, but still grinning. "See you after the game!"
And before Ron had a chance to ask him again, he was gone.
"Where is he? Where's Harry?" asked Hermione frantically, standing up in her seat. It was very hard to see anything through the pouring rain.
"Don't panic, Herm, he's right there," Ron reassured her, pointing to Harry who was hovering near their left goalpost looking for the snitch.
Ginny, who was sitting in the row in front of them, was so worried she was biting her nails.
It was the first Quidditch match of the season: Gryffindor versus Hufflepuff. Gryffindor was up by 10.
They watched Katie Bell score another point for Gryffindor, and the crowd went wild. It was now 50 to 30.
Harry suddenly zoomed straight down on his broom as fast as he could. Hermione grabbed Ron in shock and they both watched Harry diving toward the snitch. She finally noticed what she was doing and looked up at him. Ron smiled at her, and she smiled back, but didn't let go.
They were cheering at the top of their lungs, both absorbed in the game and Ron sheltering Hermione from the rain. It was amazingly humid outside and it seemed even warmer to both of them.
Suddenly, the crowd around them exploded with applause. "What happened? What's going on?" Ron asked, looking around.
"Stupid, we've won the game!" shouted Ginny over all the noise. "Harry just caught the snitch! Gryffindor's won!"
