One Shot: Roses"Tell me, Ginji-san," Akabane said, giving the blonde a sweet smile that made him sweat with fear. "H-hai, Akabane-san?" "Do you like roses?"
Ginji frowned, lightly. "I... I'm not sure. I never really thought about it before." Jackal nodded, accepting the answer. "Not surprising, though not over-all pleasant, I assure you."
After a few seconds, Akabane presented a handful of roses to Ginji. They were beautiful flowers in every color you could imagine a rose being; white, red, yellow, pink, purple, peach, and a beautiful talisman rose.
"For you, my dear Ginji. They are a gift from me." The blonde reached out and took them, carefully, only to find that every rose was perfect with a distinct lack of any thorns that may try to prick him.
"D-did you pick these yourself, Akabane-san?" The elder smiled. "Of course. How much of a gift would it be was it no more than a casual thought? But did you know, my dear Ginji, that roses talk?"
Ginji laughed, albeit cautiously. "Don't kid, Akabane-san. Flowers don't talk." "Oh, don't they? Have you ever heard of the language of flowers?"
The blonde perked up, interested. "No, I haven't." "It is a way to give messages to someone through simply giving them flowers. Roses, as it turns out, are able to say the most. Each color means something different than any other."
Jackal reached into his trench coat and removed another blood-red flower. This one, however, was more damaged than the others, still having slight remnants of thorns and slightly crushed petals.
Akabane kissed the silken petals of the rose and handed it to Ginji. "What does a red rose mean in the language of flowers, Akabane-san?" The darker man smiled hauntingly at Ginji, pulled his hat low over his brow, and walked away.
