Just as Frodo wrote the account of the War of the Ring, long after the pages of the Red Book have been filled, Aragorn sits and writes another accout of a story before the War. Elessar recounts the story of the Dunedain and their part in the War.

Amongst the great tales of the War of the Ring, names and peoples are innumerable. Tales of heroism and sacrifice are as many as the sands upon the shores. Of some, much is told, whether through the account of the Red Book of Westmarch or in other tales, however of some, little is known. Of the Dunedain Rangers, not much is spoken. Here, in the years after the passing of the Shadow from the East and the destruction of the Ring of Power and the return of the King of Gondor, I, Elessar Telcontar, recount the tales of the final remnant of the northern kingdom of Arnor.
