It was St. Valentine's Day at Seishun Gakuen and Kaidoh was trying rather vainly to walk through the hordes of females who were jammed in the hallways, trying to give gifts to their crushes. Finally making it to his classroom, having sustained more bumps and bruises in those 10 minutes than he'd ever had in all of his training time combined, he sat down heavily at his desk.

"Fffshuuu…" The mamushi hated this time of year, when the female species went love crazy (not that they never do any other time of the year). Kaidoh covered his ears, trying to somehow block out all the screeching until the school day was over, if he lived that long.

----

"Yo, Kaidoh," the tall bespectacled teen greeted him as he walked towards the tennis courts.

"Inui-senpai," the second-year greeted in return, bowing slightly to the other.

"You don't sound well," Inui said, pushing up his glasses.

"Iya. Just that the day as been rather… hectic."

"Eighty-seven percent of the girls tend to become that way when love is in the air." Kaidoh suppressed the smile that was about to form; Inui-senpai always seemed to know what was bothering him, even when he didn't voice it out loud.

Practice that day was rather stilted as the club members, the regulars especially, shared the gifts that they had received throughout the day with each other. Inui kept a record on who had what: Fuji had gifts from probably 96 percent of the female student body, both Oishi and Kikumaru together received a good 80 percent, Kawamaru obtained 29 percent for his normal side and 48 percent for his burning mode, Momoshiro gained 71 percent, and first-year Echizen Ryoma got 64 percent. Inui was sure that if Tezuka was present, he would gain not only 100 percent in Seigaku but in various other schools as well. Seemed like the only two regular members who were gift-less were himself and… Kaidoh.

He didn't mind, of course. He was quite used to it and he was 93 percent positive that Kaidoh didn't care whether or not he received anything. But still… it was Valentine's Day. At least one of them should feel special on this day.

----

Finally, the rather pointless practice ended and Kaidoh decided to train 3 times as hard that evening to make up for it. He made his way into the clubhouse to change out of his regular jersey, but when he pulled out his black tank top from the shelf, a small bag fell to the floor. Glancing around quickly, he saw that no one else was around so he snatched it up and pocketed it before he finished changing and left.

Once he was a good distance away from the school, Kaidoh took out the small bag and looked it over suspiciously. Who could have given this to him? No one would have been able to sneak into the clubhouse without a key. And he hadn't noticed anyone out of place during practice.

Untying the ribbon that was atop the bag, it opened to reveal small pieces of candy and a piece of paper. Turning it around, he read the note that was written on it in neat handwriting.

Kaidoh: 0.01. While it may seem insignificant, it is an improvement on last year.

This time, Kaidoh didn't stop the smile that spread across his face.
