Forty-nine Victims.

Chapter One: The New Employee.

It was one of those calm days, you know, the ones that it seems that absolutely nothing can go wrong? Yeah, that one.

Birds chirped, the breeze hummed, if it wasn't for the fact that she just found out today about the forty-fifth victim of a vampire wannabe, it'd be a great day for her.

"WHAT?!"She was in a rage, "Forty-five? Forty-fucking-five?!" now, don't get me wrong, she wasn't one to swear often, but this, she took personally.

"Y-yes Ma'am." That poor boy who got stuck telling her that they had yet to catch the murderer who obviously thought it funny to do his business vampire style.

"Now, now, don't kill the messenger Sango." Her best friend, Kagome, said from the door.

Sango turned her glare to Kagome, unknowingly giving 'the messenger' the chance he needed to get as far away from her office as possible.

"You shut up!" Sango hissed.

"Whatever." Kagome shrugged and started walking out of the room, "You know, Sango, it really isn't like you to be so… determined, jumping to conclusions, scary? What in gods name has got you so worked up?" with that Kagome walked out of the room.

Sango put her head in her hands and whispered, "If only you knew…"

She sighed deeply and went back to her work, Sango Tajiya was a very respected detective, she didn't lose her temper easily to, so her reaction to this whole 'Vampire wannabe' business was down right shocking to most.

But… she had her reasons, she also had reasons to deeply hate this murderer…

"Daddy, come outside, now! Hurry daddy!!"

"Why?"

"Daddy, it's Mommy!"

"What?"

Blood…

"Noooo!! Mommy, daddy!!"

Tears…

"Kohaku! Fallow me! Hurry!!"

Screams…

"You can't escape."

Fire…

"Noo!! Kohaku! Kohaku!! I can't lose you too!!!"

Laughter…

Sango snapped out of her revere with a gasp by a knock on her still gaping open door.

"What is it?!" she said rather harshly, looking up from her desk…

Only to be met with the most beautiful purple eyes she had ever seen…

"My name is Miroku Hoshi I am to start working here today, I am to speak to a Miss Tajiya, could you help me?" his voice was beautiful.

"This is she." Sango answered, finally shutting her gaping mouth.

"Great! Though I did not expect one of such beauty, Lady Sango."

Sango blushed a deep shade of maroon, than she realized something, "What in gods name is that supposed to mean?! Are you saying there is something wrong with my name?!!"

He seemed to be taken aback but quickly regained himself, "No, that is not at all what I meant, I apologize if you thought that I was trying to insult you."

"Actually, I don't think you trying to insult me, I think you are incapable at giving any sort of complement."

Owch, that's gotta hurt.

"In any case, I believe you're my new secretary?" Sango was quickly coming back to her business like tone of voice.

"Yes."

"Well then get out of my office and look for Kagome, she'll tell you everything you need to know." With that she dismissed him and looked back down at her papers.

Miroku walked out of the room in a strange sort of shock, why hadn't she felled for his normal tricks like most women?

In any case, it appeared Miroku had finally found the challenge he'd been looking for.
