For years now it had been only Erik's internal clock that woke him, since there was no possible way for any sunlight to enter his dark domain. His eyes fluttered open and took a moment to adjust before he reached over and lit his bedside light. He looked over and smiled when he saw her. She had woken up when he began to stir and move the bed about, and although he could tell she was a bit irritated at being awoken, he still found her to look rather charming. She stretched and got up to wash, leaving him to attempt to manage the disarray of the bed sheets. As he watched her wash, he was completely fascinated. Her slender, naked form was elegant and graceful in every way, even when he thought it would be impossible.
For years now, they would take every meal together, and he would admire the way she so daintily took every bite, as though she had been served a great delicacy, even if the meal was the simplest in the world. This was how she ate no matter how hungry she was, and he thought it was delightful.
For years now, every day they would spend their evenings together, and she would look at him with utter adoration while he spoke to her softly, telling her everything he thought she'd ever wanted to hear in her life.
For years now, he had loved her dearly. And in his darkest moments, when he remembered his years of torture, degradation and isolation, and thought he was the loneliest person in the world, he would simply pull her onto his lap, nuzzle her and sigh "At the least I know I'll always have you… won't I, Ayesha?"
Author's note: Predictable? Sick? Kinda creepy? I thought so too. Review anyway!
