Summary: In that moment
when Teal'c's and Daniel's eyes meet...
Notes: It was
142 words, and then it grew a couple. shrug My first ficlet from
Teal'c's point of view.
The moment their eyes meet, black-brown to livid blue, they freeze. One ready to fire, the other ready to flee. The whoosh and lock of the gate behind them is distant, barely heard. He thinks that he knows this man, recognizes the long hair and round glasses, has an inexplicable urge to just let him go—even if he is the enemy. The instant stretches eternally, never-ending—and then chevron seven locks and the wormhole rushes into existence.
For a split second, he felt like someone else entirely, felt like didn't have to shoot the man for disobeying his new God. Then the man runs for the gate. He tracks him with his staff-weapon, and hits just as the Tau'ri jumps through the Stargate.
The autodestruct counts down the seconds (9…8…7…) and he thinks it doesn't matter if he knew the man or not, (6…5…) or that strange sense of déjà-vu he had as he looked into event-horizon blue eyes, (4…) and he thinks it doesn't matter that he regrets shooting the older Tau'ri, (3…) because (2…1… ) nothing matters in death.
