Chapter One: Delicate
'You are weak.' He stated, arms folded.
She bit her lips till she could taste iron in her mouth.
He continued looking at her, standing on the tree.
She picked herself up, grimacing in pain as she struggled with her left foot.
'Sprained?' He asked.
She looked up at him defiantly. 'As if you care!'
He smiled. 'I don't.'
She blinked, angry with herself for being weak in front of such a unfeeling person.
'Then what are you doing here?' Sakura retorted, and without waiting for an answer and limped away.
'You know, there are a lot of missing-nins sighted here. Not to mention a few wild beasts.' He shrugged.
She cursed. Damn it.
She laughed mirthlessly. 'At least it would be better for me to die than have your presence next to me.'
'Not next, above.' He pointed out.
'Can you just shut up for a moment? If you are going to continue being sarcastic, please leave and let me die here in peace. If not, get your ass down here and help me!'
Gaara grinned. 'What makes you think I'll help you?'
Before she could reply, her body fell to the ground.
Gaara cursed. He could not leave her alone in this forest, could he? After all, it was true that missing-nins were sighted around here.
He sighed, and jumped off the tree.
He lifted her off the ground, and was shocked to find out that this pretty pink kunoichi was very light.
He sighed again.
Sakura opened her eyes wearily.
Where the hell was she?
The last thing she could remember was being injured by the Mist ninja, before encountering Gaara.
She sat up on the hard bed, and took a look around.
The wooden room she was in was fairly small, containing only a bed, small table, two chairs.
She stumbled out of bed, and opened the door.
'Oh? You are awake already, I see.' Gaara said, lifting his head from the scroll he was reading.
'W-hat am I doing here?' Sakura asked.
'You passed out on me.' Gaara replied simply, his attention was again on the scroll.
If her leg did not hurt so much, she would have ran across the room to strangle him.
Sakura blinked.
'All right, thank you then. I'll be on my way.' Sakura replied, turning around.
'Just for your information, we are at least 100 km away from civilization, and it will take you approximately… six hours or more to get there.' Gaara said, grinning slightly.
Sakura immediately whirled back around.
She plopped herself down on the sofa, next to Gaara.
'What are you doing here, in Mist Village?' Sakura asked, hoping to strike up a conversation.
'Same thing as you.' Gaara replied, looking up for the first time that night.
'Well… all right then. It's been four years since I last saw you, right?' Sakura smiled.
Gaara pondered for a while. 'Yes, Quite true.'
'So you are a chuunin already?' Sakura asked.
'Jounin.' He corrected.
Sakura bit her lips.
'Can I ask you a favor?'
Gaara looked up. 'I might not agree, but what is it?'
'Can you…'
