"Oh come off it!"
"No! I absolutely will NOT- we're breaking school rules. And quite frankly, we've done enough already this year. Don't you think this is really pushing it?"
"Hermione, would you just RELAX!"
"Would you two just shut up! If Mrs. Norris can't see us, that's one thing. But she can hear you two bickering like an old married couple we're done for! Now just. Shut.up!"
"Harry, we shouldn't be out! Just last week we were caught by Snape of all the professors lurking around in the restricted section of the library. If we're caught again-"
"Then I'll say I made you two come along just to save your necks. Now just shut up, please!"
"He has a point, Mione." Ron grinned and nearly chocked trying to hide his laughter as Hermione ran into a suit of armor. It came crashing down as a result, causing all three to jump and race down the hallway. Already Filch was coming. "Shh! Quick!"
Racing around corners and down hallways they managed to make it to the dungeons. Breathing a sigh of relife Harry tore the invisibility cloak off of them, exposing themselves to the cold and chill of the supposed lowest level of the school. Harry took out the Maruaders Map to see if Snape was anywhere nearby. It showed him up on the thrid floor making his way to the Astronomy tower to find any hormone driven teenagers out for an evening of fun.
"Ok, we're clear for a while at least." Harry muttered, taking down a lantern that was propped on the wall. "If we hurry and not fight, the sooner we get back to Gryffindor tower." He turned on his heel and walked stiffly down the long dark corridor.
Neither Ron nor Hermione had a clue of what he was looking for. He hadn't gotten that far into the plan to tell them that. He didn't, after all, ask them to come. They just sort of..tagged along. Like usual of course.
"Harry, what are we looking for?" Hermione asked, keeping close to Ron as if an unexpected visitor was going to grab her by the shoulder. Ron kept eyeing the floor and ceiling for any critter he hoped he wouldn't see on this expedition.
"Something." Harry replied, concentrating on finding the right door.
"Well I figured that much."
"Just don't worry about it ok? This is something I have to do. I didn't ask you to come." He replied hotly, finally annoyed with his friends presence. But his tone of voice wouldn't stop Hermione from talking. He knew it, and he grinded his teeth.
"You're not trying to find a way to contact the dead are you?" Ron asked after a while, notcing that the air seemed colder than what it had when they first came down to the dungeons. "Hey, do either of you notice it's gotten colder?"
Hermione shivered and gave a small whimper, but Harry kept on.
What seemed like ages Harry finally stopped in front of a forbidding looking door. He sighed with relief and turned the handle. It was unlocked. Just like the book said it would be.
"Oh finally!" He opened the door and stepped into the room. Ron and Hermione were at his heels and gasped out loud. Hermione had to bite her lip to keep from screaming.
"Harry…Harry! This..This is…this is Salazar Slytherin's library!" Hermione whispered, fear shook her body as she clung to Ron for support. He wasn't much though, considering he noticed something in the corner of the room. It looked at least the size of CrookShanks. He paled and nearly lost his voice.
Harry looked back and raised an eyebrow.
"You ok mate?"
Ron mumbled something incoherrent.
"What?" Hermione looked up, obvlious that she still clung to his hand.
"SPIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
