Miroku went to bed shortly after his quiet confession, one that had not gone unnoticed.

Sango sat up slowly, tears in her eyes. She finally knew that he loved her, but she also knew that he wouldn't be with her. He talked of having to give her up... buy why? Why was he so certain they could not be together? She looked at him, she knew he was asleep, had he been awake he would have done something about her tears, or at least tried to.

It was then that she looked upon his hand, the one wrapped in cloth and prayer beads.

Could that be why?

Was he worried about dieing?

It was strange... it was so easy to forget what his Kazanna would one day do to him, with how Miroku always acted. He was almost never serious, unless situations were dire or one of his friends were hurt physically or emotionally. He was always so damn calm about everything, if he was worried, then why keep it a secret?

Why couldn't he tell her?

Sango decided then and there that she would talk to Miroku about this, and soon.

The Next morning, Inuyasha and Kagome still had not returned. So for now, it was still just Sango, Miroku, Shippo and Kilala. Luckily for Sango, she had awaken before anyone else and had been able to make rice balls for breakfast. When they were almost done, she woke up Shippo and Kilala, and told them to go find some berries to go with breakfast.

Now, it was just her and Miroku, once he woke up.

Only, she didn't want to wait for him to wake up.

"MIROKU!"

Miroku came hurriedly stumbling out of the small shack they had all slept in, he looked almost terrified, as if he had expected her to be in mortal danger.

"Good, your awake." Sango said calmly as she now stood, and Miroku practically fell over.

"What did you do that for!" Miroku demanded. "You scared me half to death!"

Sango just shrugged it off and gave him his rice ball, and then stared to eat hers. "It's time for breakfast."

Miroku sighed and started to eat, and Sango walked up to him as she finished her rice ball.

"Do you have anything you want to tell me?" She asked, getting right in front of him.

"Uh, no... Not particularly."

"Oh really?" She said, getting even more in his face, causing him to try to back away a little.

"Sango, what are you getting at?" Miroku said in an aspirated tone of voice.

"Only that I heard you last night. I heard you say you love me, and then wish you had never met me!"

Miroku's eyes widened in surprise, but then seemed to soften as he looked down at the ground, and turned away from her. "You weren't supposed to hear that."

"Well I did." Sango suddenly seemed to soften too, "Where you ever going to tell me?"

"No."

It seemed so illogical that such a small word could seem to hurt so much. "Miroku, why?"

"Had I wanted you to know why, I would have told you all of that when I knew you were awake." Miroku stated quietly. It was then that he started to walk away slowly. "I'm going for a walk, and I wish not to be disturbed."

With that, he walked faster, it didn't take long for her to lose sight of him in the woods.

He had just left...

Sango looked down at the ground. What would happen now? How long would he be gone? And would he stay angry at her for learning of his feelings?

This was so frustrating. To finally know he held really feelings toward her, only for him to become angry with her for knowing. He hadn't even given her a chance to tell him she returned his feels...
