Plot Failure
Hey there fanficters, I know it's been awhile, but my muse decided to desert me when I needed him most. But anyways, here it is the fourth installation of the Stirrings plot line.
He looked at the crumpled paper one last time before he hid it in his lyric book. If he had his way, Nick would never be with her again. All he needed to do now was watch and wait. Trent lay back on his bed and ran the plan through his head one more time before he fell asleep, a small smile on his face.
Morgendorffer Homestead
Daria was lying on her bed working on Mr. Dimartinos' history paper when Quinn stomped into her room.
"Can I help you o'narcissistic one?" She asked without even looking up.
"That weird art girl you hang out with is here. She wants to see you outside."
Daria closed her book and looked over at her alarm clock. Groaning she got up from her comfy position and walked down the stairs. "Amiga, did you forget our date at Pizza king tonight?" Jane asked, with her eyebrow raised.
"Yea, I was working on Mr. D's paper. With any luck this one just might make his eye finally pop out." Daria smirked as they began walking.
"So are you and Sir Nicolas together again yet?" Jane asked as they sat down at their usual booth with their slices.
"No, we're talking and he's asked, but I don't know. He flew off the handle this time, and at something so trivial. I don't know if I can trust him not to do it again."
"Trivial! Daria he thought that you were cheating on him, and with my brother no less. Whom must I remind you is the leader of the band that your ex plays in and is his best-friend. I'm amazed that he didn't do anything stupid like go on a binge."
"Trust me; I remember very well why we fought Lane. And need I remind you that you didn't help any by making that outrageous accusation about me cheating. I thought that you knew me better than that."
"Dammit Daria, what the hell was I supposed to think. You and brother sneaking around like you were up to something, calling each other all the time disappearing for hours on end. If you were me, what would you have thought was going on?"
"I know, dammit, I know. It's still a sore subject with me, and I know that I would have reacted in the same manner. I didn't want to hide it from him, but Trent said that it would be a better surprise if the less people knew about it, the less of a chance of the beans to be spilt. It ate me alive Jane, I really care about Nick, and I hate myself for hurting him." Daria hung her head and put her hands in her lap.
"Look amiga, I know that it hurt you, and I also know that it hurt Nick more. But you have to overlook the past to start a new future. Besides what about the young-un?" Jane asked as she looked at Daria's stomach.
"Jane, it was a false alarm. I went to the doctors yesterday and got tested, it was the stress. In a way I'm relieved, I don't need a kid now, and Nick definitely doesn't need another one. But apart of me wishes that I had that little life growing in me, at least then I would be able to combat the evil of stupidity."
"You never know, it could have turned out like Quinn. You two are from the same gene pool you know."
"Bite your tongue. Anyways that hasn't been proven yet, I'm still looking for the adoption papers. I know that they're in that house somewhere."
"Your moms' briefcase maybe? She doesn't leave the house, hell she doesn't leave the room without it."
Daria smirked at her best friend as they went back to eating their pizza.
Casa De Lane
Trent had just woken up when he heard them tromp up the stairs. He smiled as he readied himself for the best performance of his life. He walked around the room to stretch the kinks out and to rid himself of the nervousness that had settled in the pit of his stomach. As he passed the mirror by his closet, he stopped and looked at his reflection.
"Come on man, what's the worse she can do, say no?" Trent mentally asked himself.
Deep down in his heart he knew that if she rejected him that he would completely shut down. Just like Nick had. Ever since he had become aware of how pretty and how much that her criticism meant to him, he had thought of nothing else but having her by his side, both day and night.
Even if it meant losing one of his best friends, he wouldn't give up until Daria was his and his alone.
Trent took a deep breath and ran a hand through his hair to make it look sleep tousled. He gulped and walked to the door slowly, trying to calm his jangled nerves. Once in the hallway he fought the urge to run and jump back into his bed. As he neared Jane's door, he heard Daria on the phone. Then he heard the one thing that he had hoped never to hear.
"Yes Nick, I'm ready to give it another try."
With his heart in the soles of his feet he walked back to his room and flung himself down on the bed, determined to never rise from it again.
