I'm replaced this chap with one I like better. I, not as hyper as I used to be.
Not Far Now
When Violet made eye contact with Klaus she would usually start thinking of all the bad things they went through as children, she would also be reminded of how good her life was now. Being married to Quigley was the best thing that had ever happened to her. She was promised a lifetime with the man she loved until death do they part. And that was all Violet needed to be happy. Everyday she would wake up to see her beloved next to her and the rest of her day would be as happy as she could possibly make it. But there was something in the way, in the past few weeks Violet started noticing differences in her husband. He would come home late from his job at V.F.D. He would take showers at night, instead of in the mornings, like he usually does. And he always seemed a little more jumpy around her. They both knew what he was doing but Violet didn't have the heart to confront him, nor more did Quigley did, to tell her. They kept a silent agreement to let these things keep happening, with neither of them doing anything about it. Even at night, Quigley would claim he was too tired to do anything but go right to sleep; this had left Violet disappointed before she went to bed, and even more suspicious.
Violet looked up from the crossword puzzle she was doing and saw Klaus over in the corner, reading a book. He had come over to Violet's house a lot more than he used to. After Violet told him about her marriage he had rushed right over to comfort her. Always there to wipe the tears away, to try to take her troubles. For many years he was the only one there for her. When she was sick at the hospital, Klaus was the one spending the nights with her. Talking all night to her about how lucky he was to have a sister like Violet. She never thought she could repay him for his tremendous kindness.
She found that she had begun crying. She was so grateful for him she had no idea what she would do without him. A tear ran down her cheek and she was forced to wipe it away to not let Klaus see. Unfortunately for her, Klaus did see and he put his book down to investigate. Standing up, he walked slowly over to Violet, who had not noticed him walking over. He kneeled beside her chair and touched her hand. Violet was startled for a moment but soon grabbed his hand and stood him up. Without any words she pulled him into a bear-hug, as if grasping the only thing in her life that made her truly happy. He understood what she needed and hugged in return. Several times he tried pulling away but Violet refused to let go. For several minutes they stood there and just hugged. Not one single word was uttered between the two. Eventually Violet let go and looked slightly embarrassed.
"I'm sorry Klaus." She rubbed her eyes to wipe away excess tears.
"No need to be sorry, I know you needed it. Plus I'm always glad to help you out, whatever it is." He gave a heart-warming smile to try to cheer Violet up.
She smiled in return and mouthed 'thank you' to him. He nodded and went back to his seat.
"I'd do anything for you, you know that right?" Klaus sounded unsure of himself.
"Of course I know, and I'd do anything for you as well. You have helped me so much I could never repay you."
"Nah. Just normal brother-sister stuff."
"No it's not Klaus," suddenly she sounded serious, "do you know anyone who went through what we went through? I think not. This is not normal brother-sister stuff. We understand each other, more than any 'normal' brother and sister do. Remember that."
"I will. And Violet," he paused for a moment, "thank you."
"No, no, thank you."
