Chapter 1: Another Time In Space And Another Idiot
He couldn't see anything, it was all pitch black. He couldn't remember anything. He couldn't feel anything- wait, yes, yes he can. He felt the cold smooth floor on his back, which wasn't normal? He didn't remember anything so he wasn't sure if it was, but it felt like it wasn't.
Where was he? When he was going to get up two voices suddenly came out of nowhere.
"Did D.U.S.E 11307 finally wake up?"
"No not yet, I want to check on its aura and whatever management wants us to check because of the oddities I guess."
What. What happened? What does he mean by management? Was he in some form of prison or something? What the hell is aura anyways?
He began to open his eyes, which felt a lot harder due how tired he felt, and when he did open his eyes blinding lights funneled into the small sliver of empty space between his eyelids.
God it was so freaking bright, but he decided to keep his eyes open. It seemed like his head was facing upwards, so what he assumed was the roof was covered with hexagonal white metal tiles with what seemed like hexagon shaped rings that burst the light onto him.
Okay this is way too fancy for a prison.
Before he tried to get himself up he heard the sound of a hydraulic door opening.
"God it takes forever for those to open. Like I know it's for safety reasons but we already have a whole bunch of mons monitoring the place," they mumbled.
He heard heavy footsteps stomp upon the ground. He wanted to speak but from the circumstance he wasn't sure if it was safe, but by then the choice was already taken by him in one sentence.
"Hey it seems to be awake," is what the Pokémon inside the room presumably said.
That wasn't good, not at all. What should he do? Not sure if they were friend or foe, he decided that the safest option would be to pretend to be asleep.
"Yeah it's heartbeat is really speeding up, what should I do?"
"I dunno? I guess try to approach it but try not to get close."
"Maybe I should just talk to it."
"Yeah that's probably the smarter option."
"Hello there, are you okay?"
He presumes that the phrase was probably directed to him.
"My name is Salen, what's yours?" The voice was slowly moving towards him, which was very easy to tell due to the large stomps accompanying his voice.
If he was in danger than they probably would have known his name or whatever else, or maybe they were just really incompetent. They seemed kind enough, he could take the risk.
"My name is Leylan."
"Oh, so you aren't feral! Well that makes this so much easier!"
Leylan tried to get up but when he put his arm to his side to push up, he slipped when trying to lift his strangely heavy head. Looking at his arms he realized that they were really stubby compared to his pretty slim and long body.
"What?!"
"Oh, are you surprised with the weird barrier thing? Yeah I don't have a clue how the tech department even comes up with this stuff."
Lifting his head to see his entire body he sees that his hands have small red claws that contrasted his blue scales. The color of his scales were a gradient from a light cyan to a dark blue from his tail. He had a tan underbelly with somewhat curved arrow shapes on it. His tail was also long and wispy that seemed like it faded out into the background.
"I'm not a dragapult! What the hell happened?"
"I mean you sure look like one," is what the voice replied, which turns out to be a freaking huge buff mosquito with two large arms and four legs. A red liquid flowed through its body as if its skin was transparent.
"AaaAaAaAHhhhH! What the hell are you?!"
"Okay a bit rude but I'll let it slide. But first of all, have you never seen a buzzwole before? I mean we're quite common."
"What is going on?! I was never a dragapult, I was a dragalge! Where's Phoenix?"
Leylan's breathing intensified. Looking around him he sees the same hexagonal pattern throughout the walls and floor, around him are blues walls meant to block him from escaping, meant to keep him from finding Phoenix.
Leylans head felt nauseous after the single memory that the gods dropped onto him. "Where's Phoenix! We were, he was, how?"
"Look pal, I don't know who this Phoenix guy is but we'll help you! Just calm down."
Salen kept on moving forward, he wanted to make sure this Pokémon was okay. Leylan kept on mumbling to himself about how none of this made sense. Before Salen was able to get another word through Axel already cut it short.
"Okay that's enough, I'm sending in sleeping gas," Axel's voice stated through his headpiece.
"What?! No! I have this under control, I just need to get to talk to him."
"So you could what? Pat him on the back and be like 'oh it's all right, you'll be fine.' Look, it's normal protocol. They'll calm down later and we can explain it later.
"Okay first of all, it's not that bad of an idea! Second of all, this could be a bit more important! There were no other D.U.S.E updates apart from the necrozma and this guy. For all we know the Phoenix guy is an actual person in need of help!"
"I'm sorry, but the gas is already funnelling into the chamber."
He looked towards the chamber where Leylan was, the poor thing was already on the floor.
"What the hell Axel!"
"Basic protocol, blah blah. Look if you're worried you could ask the other communities around Ultra Space."
"Ugh, god, fine. But that still doesn't make it better."
"I'll get some of the files out for you, okay?"
"Yeah fine."
"Jeez, when are you going to give it up."
"Not soon of course," replied Salen as he opened the hydraulic door. Outside of it was Axel, the pain in the ass he was assigned with.
Axel was a heliolisk, thin with yellow scales speckled with blood orange and a mainly bright orange ring that transitioned into red around his black neck. On his face he wore a monitor and a disapproving and annoyed face.
"Look, let's just get over with this. I'm heading back to the apartments, whatever you want," said Axel as he walked away.
This, this really could've gone better.
Thank you for reading the first chapter of universal truth! The creation of this fic was actually kind of made up on the spot in the past two weeks I just kind of wanted an excuse to make an ultra space fic. This actually though probably won't be my main fic though I'm working on a series called golden ring which will probably not be made soon so yeah that sucks but thank you for reading the first chapter! I do have characters and other plot development plans ready though so it won't be a shambling mess of incoherent Pokémon styled things
