Chapter 4:
National City:
In a dark alley near KXCU TV14, Supergirl and Alex were fighting. Kara hated fighting Alex as Non was controlling her. Supergirl was now dodging and blocking the attacks while Alex was still trying to attack her.
"SUPERGIRL!" Supergirl looked behind Alex to see The Doctor holding a huge gun-like device. "MOVE!" He shouted and as Supergirl rolled to her left, Alex turned around in time for The Doctor to fire the device; blasting a blue circular beam that wrapped around Alex. After a few moments, Alex's eyes closed as she fell backwards. Kara got up and ran over to her sister as The Doctor ran over to them.
"What happened?" Kara looked up to see J'onn J'onnz in his human form and her mother, Eliza. "Doctor, what did you do?" J'onn asked as he grabbed The Doctor and held his shoulders tight.
"I fired a Ion Blocking Barrier at Alex," The Doctor explained as the pair looked at Alex who had woken up and was now hugging Kara and Eliza. "The power source came from the Ion Blockers I was wearing." Kara heard that and then looked up at The Doctor.
"Aren't you at risk of becoming under Non's control?" Kara asked but all The Doctor did was shrug his shoulders.
"I've got some time before I become mindless. I wanted to help you save your family." The Doctor explained then Kara hugged him. "Now, Supergirl. I believe you have a speech to perform to the city." The Doctor smiled as they kept hugging, Kara smiled and nodded, then the group ran into the KXCU TV14 station.
Inside:
"This equipment is ancient. It might not work." J'onn told The Doctor as he was lying under the main tv panel, using his Sonic Screwdriver to boost the power.
"This stuff isn't ancient, it's younger than me. I'm 906, now that's ancient." The Doctor told them which shocked Alex.
"906? You mean you're 906 years old?" Alex asked as The Doctor stood up and nodded. "You look great for 906." Alex complimented and The Doctor smiled.
"If I can get Supergirl's speech on TV, with the symbol on computers and phones, it might also provide a bit of a boost." The Doctor told them then he looked at Alex. "Alex, can you go into the TARDIS and pull down the two blue levers on the panel facing the doors. That will give us a power boost!" The Doctor instructed and Alex nodded then she ran into the TARDIS.
"May I ask, how do you know my daughter?" The Doctor looked behind to see Eliza Danvers, who was now standing next to J'onn. "And what's your name?" She added. The Doctor removed his glasses then held out his right hand.
"Call me The Doctor," The Doctor answered as Eliza shook his hand. "And as to how I know your other daughter, Eliza. I saved her when she was a child. The same child that Superman brought to you." The Doctor explained which surprised Eliza. "I was travelling through the Phantom Zone, doing some research and I found her; I accessed the computer to see when she was going and pulled her ship out." The Doctor smiled then he looked through the window to see Cat giving Supergirl advice.
"Thank you, Doctor." Eliza thanked, making the Doctor look back at her. "Thanks to you, Kara is happy and so is Alex." Eliza then hugged him and The Doctor returned the hug.
"She's ready." Cat walked in as Supergirl sat behind the desk. The Doctor nodded as everyone as they took their places. The Doctor then nodded at Kara who nodded back, just as the ON AIR sign switched on and all the cameras focused on her.
"People of National City. This is Supergirl." Supergirl started as she took a deep breath then exhaled. "I hope you can hear me. We have been attacked. Mothers and fathers, friends and neighbours, children, everyone; suddenly stopped by a force of evil as great as this world has ever known. Your attacker has sought to take your free will, your individuality, your spirit. Everything that makes you who you are."
Behind the window, The Doctor and J'onn were in the TARDIS and doing everything they could to make the signal stronger than Myriad. They were trying their best to help Kara save everyone.
"When facing an attack like this, it's easy to feel hopeless. We retreat, we lose our strength, lose ourselves. I know how that feels; I lost everything when I was young. When I first landed on this planet, I was sad and alone. But I found out that there is so much love in this world out there for the taking. And you, the people of National City, you helped me. You let me be who I'm meant to be. You gave me back to myself. You made me strong than I ever thought possible, and I love you for that." In the station, both J'onn and The Doctor walked out of the TARDIS as The Doctor took out the Sonic Screwdriver and activated it; boosting the signal to the max. "Now, in each and every one of you, there is a light, a spirit, that cannot be snuffed out. That won't give up. I need your help again. I need you to hope. Hope that you will remember that you can all be heroes. Hope that when faced with an enemy determined to destroy your spirit, you will fight back and thrive. Hope that those who once may have shunned you will, in a moment of crisis, come to your aid. Hope, that you will see again the faces of those you love and perhaps even those you have lost." Just as Supergirl's speech ended, all the phones started ringing as The Doctor put his Screwdriver back into his inside blazer pocket while Alex walked into the room and smiled at Kara.
"It's working. It worked. "Alex smiled and it made Kara smile, the two sisters both looked directly at The Doctor and nodded.
A few hours later:
Outside the DEO, the TARDIS was cloaked and inside it was The Doctor with Eliza, Kara and Alex. While The Doctor was repairing the overheated power cables and the two damaged control panels, the Danvers women were talking. The family chat was cut short when the monitor on the console started beeping and followed by an alarm.
"That's not good!" The Doctor explained as he pulled the monitor around to him and he looked shocked. "No! No, no, no!" The Doctor shouted then he kicked the console.
"Doctor, what's wrong?" Kara asked as she ran over and placed a hand on his hand.
"I had the TARDIS to alert me to any trouble having Myriad, it seems we're not out of danger yet." The Doctor told her then he looked at the family. "The Myriad wave has been amplified ten-fold and is rising exponentially. Emergency rooms all over the city have been filled with people complaining about headaches. All from the same source and by reading these scans, will continue to amplify until heads explode." The Doctor told them which shocked everyone. "So like every other bad person I've encountered; the Kryptonians couldn't control the people so they're going to kill all of you." The Doctor pulled the monitor over to the fifth panel and started pressing buttons.
"How long do you think we have?" Alex asked as The Doctor opened a line to the DEO, seeing the face of Lucy Lane, who was now in charge.
"A guess: four hours." The Doctor answered then he looked at Director Lane. "Miss Lane, could you help me find the source so we can stop it?" The Doctor asked and Lucy nodded.
A few moments later, the TARDIS had landed next to Kara's ship and The Doctor was working with the agents to try and locate the source. General Lane walked in with a few of his men and was surprised to see a man in a suit and tie sitting at the main computers.
"Who are you?" The General asked but The Doctor didn't answer. "Sir, tell me who you are or I'll be forced to arrest you!" The General ordered as The Doctor spun the chair around and looked at the General.
"Let's just say I have friends in U.N.I.T and Torchwood who know me very well." The Doctor smiled as he pressed the Enter key on two computers. "Meet my friends from U.N.I.T and Torchwood: Doctor Martha Jones and Captain Jack Harkness." The Doctor smiled then looked at his two friends.
"Nice to see you again, Doctor. Still got that face then?" Martha asked and The Doctor smiled. "We've got our best people here trying to locate the source of Myriad." Martha informed him and The Doctor nodded.
"Doctor, good news: we might have something here." Jack told him then The Doctor pressed the Spacebar on the keyboard, projecting Martha's and Jack's faces on the big screen.
"Director Lane, got something for you!" Doctor shouted over then Lucy ran over with Alex and Supegirl. "Jack! Martha! Tell them what you found out!" The Doctor told them then they revealed what they found out.
"Thanks to the various amounts of alien powers sources both U.N.I.T and Torchwood have connected over the times, and the ones The Doctor delivered, we were able to find this." Martha started as she showed the energy scans they found.
"An Omegahedron!" Supergirl exclaimed as she looked closely at the scans. "We used these as energy sources on Krypton. Just one of those can power an entire city." She explained to everyone.
"Well this little ball of power is powering the destruction of this planet." Jack told them which shocked Supergirl. "Thanks to The Doctor sending us the Myriad frequency, we found out the Omegahedron is powering it and the energy is building by the second." Jack explained as the results popped up on another screen.
"We were also able to reverse the scans and used the power source to locate where they were," Martha added, which made everyone feel comfortable about winning. "They're about 500 miles northeast of the DEO's location; Nevada." Martha told them then Supergirl started walking off towards the exit.
"There's more," Jack started, causing Supergirl to stop in her tracks. "We did a scan of anything extraterrestrial and found this," Jack then showed everyone an image of a huge unknown ship that looked like it had crash landed.
"Fort Rozz." The General spoke which caused both Supergirl and The Doctor to look at him.
"You knew the location of an alien prison full of hostile aliens and you just left it there?" The Doctor asked as he started to walk over to the General.
"Doctor, according to the General's report; they concealed it using its own stealth technology, cordoned off the area and called it a nuclear test site." Martha told them which shocked The Doctor and General Lane. "Your records can easily be opened since you asked for help from U.N.I.T to deal with aliens." Martha added.
"I'm going." Supergirl spoke then they heard the click of handcuffs being unlocked.
"Not by yourself, you aren't." Everyone looked to see J'onn J'onzz walking towards Supergirl. "Thank you, Doctor." J'onn thanked and the Time Lord nodded.
"You released him?" General Lane asked and The Doctor nodded as he walked towards both J'onn and Supergirl as he put his Sonic Screwdriver back inside his suit jacket.
"General, since the Earth might be destroyed, I don't think your rules are important." The Doctor explained as he picked up his trench coat. "And if you think about saying J'onn's a threat to National Security, I'll contact Doctor Jones to inform U.N.I.T about you hiding Fort Rozz and get Captain Jack to come here with his team to relieve you and your trigger-happy soldiers." The Doctor told the General as he walked over until his face was inches away from General Lane's.
"Take it from two people who travelled with The Doctor, you don't want to make him angry." Martha advised and Jack nodded with a smile.
"I'll take you two to Nevada, save your energy for any trouble." The Doctor told Kara and J'onn as they ran into the TARDIS. Everyone then watched as the mighty engines roared and hummed as the Police Box faded away.
The final fight against Non and Indigo is near. Can they be stopped? Who will win? What will happen to Fort Rozz? Can The Doctor help J'onn and Kara in this fight?
Who knows? Find out next time!
