AN: I haven't needed to do research for a fiction in a while. I actually needed to look up food products that looked next to the same. I can cook, given a recipe, but most of meals rely heavily on the microwave. Another 100 word challenge.
The worst thing about being a cook was shopping. Having to walk through the market, dealing with people who didn't know a top round from a tip steak pissed him off.
And being on a budget didn't help.
Food shouldn't go to waste, but you needed the right ingredients to make anything worthwhile. Dealing with people who didn't know basil from oregano from parsley. People who hadn't heard of more than salt for seasoning.
Looking at meat that's obviously poor quality and paying twice the price for it.
But maybe they could at least tell beef from pork this time.
