Hey, y'all! As I mentioned, I am totally rewriting this story from the beginning. This will still be an OCxHale, OCxJax, and an OCxOpie story. Please be patient with me as I look over my older chapters and rewrite them. I promise I have such big plans for this story, and I hope you all love it.
CHAPTER ONE
Danielle's fingers pounded against the keyboard furiously as she prepared for the documents to be sent to the parole board. The man in front of her was over fifty and balding with a seemingly kind face. He was a pastor in a town just thirty miles away from Charming. And, if it weren't for the thick, manilla file in front of her, she would have never suspected him of kidnapping and raping a woman at gunpoint.
"Alright, Mr. McHaffie," Danielle pursed her lips and attempted to smile at the man seated in her office. "I think I have everything I need. I'll write up a recommendation and send it to the Board."
John McHaffie smiled back at the young parole officer as he looked her over. His eyes seemed to linger on her breasts. The look on his face caused bile to rise in Danielle's throat. "Thank you so much, Miss Hale. This really is a dream come true for me. If you could recommend early release, it'd mean the world to me. You'd be my angel."
Whatever smile Danielle was attempting to muster fell flat as her voice became irritated and her body language became defensive.
"Mr. McHaffie," Danielle spoke matter-of-factly, " My name is 'Mrs. Hale'. I think you know my husband fairly well by this point. You will receive a copy of my recommendation when the parole board receives their copy. Kind words will not sway my opinion. I think we both know what my recommendation will be. I suspect the Board will be reaching out to you within the next few months with their verdict. Unless the board does decide to grant you early release, I will see you again on June 13th at 9AM." she paused from speaking as the man's face reddened with anger and embarrassment. She calmly handed him the paperwork with his next appointment date and time scribbled on the bottom of it. "That time works fine for you, right?"
John McHaffie didn't even bother to answer the young officer as he rose from the chair and stomped out of the office.
Danielle smiled triumphantly and looked at the clock. She would need to head to the courthouse soon. She was after all, the Probation and Parole Liaison for District 10 at the courthouse. She quickly logged off of her computer and grabbed her purse and work-bag filled with files and notebooks and headed out the door.
Today, Danielle would get the pleasure of seeing her husband testify in court. He had been summoned to testify against one of the defendants.
Her face lit up at the thought of her husband. He was her pride and joy. David had been busting his ass off to make Charming a safer place, and important people were beginning to notice all his hard work. It was practically public knowledge that he would be taking over Unser's position whenever the older man decided to hand over his badge.
Danielle remembered the first time she had ever seen her husband. She had grown up in Charming and had known of David ever since she was fourteen. But the first time she really saw him, they had been standing in the very room they were both headed to now. She was twenty-three and had just returned to Charming after completing five years in college. It was her second week of working for Probation and Parole and she had been shadowing a more experienced officer. The two locked eyes that day. David flashed her that handsome smile that she swore only he possessed, and that was all it took.
That smile was the beginning of everything.
After a year of seeing each other, David had asked her to marry him. And, after four years of marriage, that smile still did things to her body and soul that words couldn't even begin to explain.
Danielle looked at herself in the mirror. She turned at different angles to judge how her body looked in the new, pale-pink slip she was wearing. She sighed as she re-adjusted her breasts-–making them pop out of the lingerie just a tad more.
Her dark hair was fixed in long, loose curls. Her makeup was flawless. And while she definitely didn't always take this much time to look this good– tonight was special.
She and David had been trying to conceive for well over a year. And so far, they hadn't even managed to have a pregnancy scare. Danielle was growing worried. She was beginning to think her body was failing her. She was beginning to believe that she would never have a child. She swore that if something didn't happen for her soon, she and David were going to go get checked to make sure everything was alright.
Danielle tugged at the soft material of her slip and glanced over herself in the mirror one last time before leaving the bathroom. Her husband waited patiently for her in their bed.
"There's that beautiful woman," David smiled as the brunette crawled onto the bed. She slowly straddled his lap and looked into his eyes, a grin appeared on her face.
"Mhmm," he groaned and smiled as his strong hands found her hips. " I take it you're ovulating."
"This is gonna be it," she assured him, though she was struggling to remain positive herself, "You're going to get me pregnant tonight."
Danielle groaned as she heard the loud beeping of David's alarm clock. The noise stopped, and she began to feel the bed shift.
"Since when do you work on Saturday mornings?" she groaned into her pillow.
"Since today," David chuckled.
Danielle reached out to grab her husband's arm.
"Please, just stay here with me, " she begged him. " I'll make you pancakes and coffee if you'll just snuggle me a little more."
"As tempting as that sounds," David began, " I have to go. I'm taking over Unser's place. That means a lot of people are looking at me." he planted a quick kiss on his wife's forehead.
"But tomorrow," he began to smirk, "We'll stay just like this all day. We'll call in a pizza and lay in this bed all day making love and watching whatever you want on T.V.".
Danielle giggled at the man next to her.
"You better not be joking. I'm holding you to that."
David huffed jokingly. "You know I'm a man of my word".
She smiled in adoration at her husband. "What do you want for dinner?"
"What do you want?" He questioned her. He knew she almost always knew what she wanted to eat.
"Spaghetti," she answered without even taking a moment to think.
"Again? We just had that," David grumbled.
Danielle shot him a playfully defensive look. "It's my favorite," she stated.
"Alright," David smiled as he rose from the bed. "We'll need groceries. Do you want me to stop at the store on my way home?"
"No," she stated. "I'll go to the store later today."
Upon hearing his wife's reply, he made his way to the bathroom so he could shower for work.
"David," she called out as she snuggled in closer to her blankets.
"Yeah?" he answered.
"Call me when you're leaving work. That way I can have dinner ready when you get home."
Danielle stepped outside of the post office as she thumbed through her mail. The assortment of bills and catalogs were nothing new. She opened her car door and tossed the envelopes into the passenger seat before climbing in and shutting the door. She had now finished all her errands except for her grocery run.
As she turned the key, her engine began to rev up, but didn't kick over. The woman instantly began to worry as she tried to start the car again. This time, the motor didn't even seem to attempt to start.
Danielle let out a heavy sigh. She knew nothing about cars.
She reached for her phone and dialed David's number. She waited for what seemed like hours before she was finally instructed by an automated voice to leave a message after the beep.
Groaning out of frustration, Danielle hastily got out of the car and slammed the door behind her. She made her way to the front of the car and lifted the hood.
Once the hood was propped, Danielle stared at the view before her. Besides checking her oil, she had never really looked under her hood. She had no idea what to do.
Lost in her thoughts, Danielle didn't even hear the motorcycle until it pulled up next to her. Her face brightened with gratitude towards her savior before she even looked over to see who her knight in shining armor was. However, she knew that it was more than likely a member of SAMCRO. In her youth, she had never tired of seeing the club members. As an adult who worked with criminals daily, she no longer felt the excitement she used to when hearing the sounds of a revving bike.
Regardless, this was her saving grace. Whoever it was– they could fix her car.
As her eyes finally landed on the driver of the bike, Danielle's heart dove into the floor. She could recognize that blonde hair anywhere. And though she had seen him around town thousands of times, she always did everything in her power to avoid him.
"Need some help, darlin'," Jax asked as he dismounted his bike and began to approach her car.
"No, thanks." Danielle's defenses were up. "I called David. I'm sure he'll be calling me back soon."
"Come on now, darlin'," Jax reasoned. "I've been watching you stare at the motor for fifteen minutes. Just let me help you."
Danielle bit her lip as she weighed her options. If David was on a serious call, it could be hours before he'd be able to leave the scene and come get her.
She didn't want Jax's help. But, what else was she going to do? She didn't want to be stranded at the post office for hours on end.
"Okay," she answered almost hesitantly.
"Mind if I take a look under the hood?" he asked.
Danielle nodded her head to give him permission, but couldn't work up the courage to form words. She watched his every move as he began inspecting all the different parts under her hood.
"She couldn't help but admire his strong, tan arms and beautiful, golden hair. She remembered his clean-shaven face from when they were young, and she had to admit that he had only gotten better with age.
"Shit," Jax grumbled as he looked at her. "This is gonna have to go to the shop."
"Alright," the woman grimaced at the unfortunate news. "How long will I need to wait for a tow truck to get here?"
He let out a dry chuckle. "I have no idea. Could be hours. We've been backed up lately." He answered honestly. "Why don't you hop on my bike? I'll take you to the shop to sign some papers, and then I'll drive you home."
Danielle placed her hands on her hips and mentally cursed at her husband for not answering his phone.
"Okay," the word finally left her mouth.
Jax smirked and walked over to his bike. She followed him reluctantly. Her heart was racing so fast, she worried she might keel over right there.
"Put this on," he stated as he handed her a helmet that he had just pulled from his bag. He then mounted his bike and patiently waited for her to join him.
Danielle's fingers fumbled as she tightened the strap on the helmet. Once it was tightened, she slid onto the bike behind Jax.
She shuddered as she felt the warmth of his presence between her legs. Memories of him between her legs almost a decade ago suddenly flooded her mind, causing her face to redden out of shyness and guilt.
"Hold on, Dani," he shouted over the roaring bike as they began to take off. Her cheeks turned even darker at the sound of the blonde biker calling her by her old nickname.
"Mom," Jax began speaking as soon as he entered the door. "Dani's car is broken down in front of the post office. It's gonna need towed."
Danielle and Gemma locked eyes as the younger woman appeared behind Jax.
"Well," Gemma smirked. "If it isn't Miss America."
"Mom," the man rolled his eyes at his mother. "Just get her the paperwork, please. I'm gonna go find Half-Sac and see if we can get her towed soon."
He then looked back at the younger brunette. "I'll be right back, darlin'."
Jax ran out of the door–leaving Danielle with his mother. Suddenly, Danielle felt like the scared teenage girl who had stood in front of Gemma for the first time many years prior.
"Here you go," Gemma placed papers and a pen down on the desk in front of her.
Danielle quickly sat down and began working on the paperwork. She could feel the older woman's eyes burning a hole into the back of her head. After what seemed like a century, Danielle just couldn't take it anymore. She looked up– glaring right back at Gemma.
"How is Deputy-Do-Right treating you?" Gemma popped her gum as she waited for the answer.
"Very well," Danielle replied. She could already tell that Gemma's questions were leading somewhere.
"Any kids yet?"
The younger woman's heart sank a bit at the question. "No. Not yet," she answered.
"You were family," Gemma stated. "We took you in and you still went and shacked up with that Wyatt-Earp-wannabe."
"I was never family, Gemma," Danielle hid her shaking hands–as to not let Gemma know she was bothered. "I was a naïve-, little girl that had a thing for bad boys."
"And what are you now?" Gemma retorted.
Before the conversation could continue, Jax entered the office again.
"You ready?" he asked–having no idea that it was the second time today that he had saved his ex.
"Almost," Danielle answered as she jotted down the rest of the information needed on the paperwork.
Jax slowly pulled his bike into the driveway.
Danielle wasted no time getting off and quickly began unfastening her helmet. "Thank you for everything you did for me today" she said earnestly as she handed Jax the helmet.
"The pleasure is all mine, Dani," He grinned as he once again called her by her old nickname.
"Well," her eyes shifted awkwardly as her face reddened again. "Let me know when my car is ready. This is for the gas."
She tried to hand him over a $20 she had dug out of her pocket.
"No, Darlin'," Jax turned down the money. "You keep that. I've been waiting 9 years to apologize to you. I was a shithead to you back in the day. A free ride home is the least I can do."
A sad smile appeared on Danielle's face as she crossed her arms.
"I'm not sure 'shithead' is the term I would've used to describe you," she poked at him. "But I guess we can go with that."
Jax chuckled softly and took a moment to look over the woman in front of him.
"Have a good night, Darlin'," he said to her gently before revving up his bike and driving away.
Danielle stood in her driveway for a moment watching the bike until she could no longer see it in the distance. She left like she had re-lived a thousand memories today.
"Babe," David shouted as he entered the house. "I'm home."
Danielle emerged from the bedroom. Her hair was wet from showering and she was wearing pajama shorts and a tank top.
"Hey, baby," she pressed her lips against his for a quick kiss.
"I got your messages, honey," he began as he gestured to the grocery bags in his hand. " You'd never believe what happened today. I spent six hours on scene waiting for Social Services to show up. I'm so sorry I couldn't help you. What happened?"
"It just crapped out on me at the post office," Danielle stated as she grabbed the bags from her husband and began sorting out what was needed to make dinner. "Fortunately, Jax was driving by and stopped to help me."
"Oh, yeah?" David puffed out his chest a bit out the sound of her saying Jax's name. That's kind of him".
David knew about the history Danielle and Jackson Teller shared. They didn't talk about it much. And, honestly, it was probably for the best that they didn't talk about it.
Danielle heard the jealousy in his voice. She paused from beginning to cook the hamburger and walked closer towards her husband. Once she reached him, she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Have I told you lately how attractive you are?" Danielle smirked before leaning in to kiss his neck.
David groaned in pleasure at her touch and kisses.
In one quick sweeping motion, he had lifted her up and sat her on the kitchen counter.
"David!" She squealed and giggled and he hungrily kissed her thigh. "The meat's gonna burn!"
"It'll taste just fine," he growled as he grabbed the drawstring on her shorts and began to shimmy them off her hips.
And that's a wrap for Chapter One. Please leave reviews for me. Let me know what you think. Reviews are seriously the difference between me adding another chapter in a day, or waiting a month to add a chapter. They motivate me so much.
Thank you guys for reading!
