It didn't take long for Yakko to realise what was happening. He hadn't said anything in a long time, six months maybe? Two years? A year? Who knows at this point. But there was something, there was something wrong. Something deeply wrong, not with him, no, but with the human of whom had the power to grant him his speaking voice. The human whom said all those catchphrases on the script he was given. The human that empowered him to give him the best ability to make folks happy.

Yakko knew, something wasn't right. Something wasn't right, and something needed to be done about it. But what could he, a cartoon character, who originally emanated out of this man's mouth do?

He couldn't come now, and give him the Peptalk he desperately needed to hear. The man who gave him this voice, who loved him as his own child, was suffering, and there was nothing, honestly nothing the oldest sibling could do. But there had to be something, there had to be. So, Yakko appeared before his voice actor. Looking at him, with tears in his eyes. The oldest sibling had never seen such sadness, such pain, in a human being before. Rob really needed this peptalk.

So, with a brave face, Yakko spoke to him.

"Rob...?" He asked, in a rare timid voice that he never used. Yakko saw his voice actor look at him, with a rare humility on his face.. "Hey buddy, ya doing okay? I haven't heard from you in awhile." Yakko gave a laugh, but it was more like a wheeze. "That's cause I haven't, ya idiot! I haven't been able to speak to you for God knows how long! Y'know, your whole, throat cancer situation! Ring any bells?" He asked, rather bitterly.

Rob immediately slumped in the recliner he was sitting in, IV drip inserted in his arm, as a muted episode of the office was playing. "Yes, Yakko, I am very much aware. Why are you here?"

Yakko's cartoonish ears dropped, like a bunny when they can't eat the last piece of lettuce because another bunny had stolen it. Yakko, a character that never usually shuts up, stayed silent. His hands were clasped together, nervously, almost fearful even, as he looked down, unable to fathom words. Rob smiled, reaching his non-IV drip arm out to his cartoon character. "Hey, I'm going to be okay, don't worry, I'll be back to singing the nations of the world before you know it buddy, I promise." Rob reassured.

Well, that peptalk failed. Rob wasn't supposed to be reassuring him, the oldest sibling was supposed to be! Not him! He had gone through so much, and he was reassuring him? Yakko was supposed to be doing that! Not him! What made it worse was the tears were streaming down Yakko's Face as he cried, trying to understand that his voice actor had gone through that horrendous thing. But it was hard to imagine, it honestly was. Yakko's Fictional for crying out loud! Fucking fictional! And yet, he was the one who was crying. He was the one that was upset because of this. Rob pulled Yakko into a warm fatherly embrace, letting the boy cry his fears and concerns. Rob was here for him, just as much as the oldest was for him too.

"Hey..." Rob soothed. " i'm going to be fine, this treatment is kicking my ass, but I'll be fine. You have nothing to fear."

"I do have something to fear, though! It's more than likely we're going to have a reboot, and if you're not here to give me the voice, who will be? So you can't die on me, you can't die on either of us! Ya got that?!" Yakko sobbed.

"Loud and clear buddy." Rob said, hugging his cartoon character a little tighter. "I promise, everything is going to be just fine."

And then, world falling to pieces, and just like the oldest had predicted, there was a reboot, and everything was finally back to normal. This was the start of something amazing.

A/N:

Double story? Yay!

I wrote this back in February after finishing Rob Paulson's book for the first time. I've read it about three more times since then XD what? It's really good! You should totally read it if you haven't!

Anyway, I wrote this because I was inspired by the opening chapter of his book 'Pinky Gets Bad News,' in which Rob himself talks with pinky about his diagnosis with cancer. It happens again in chapter 14 where Dr Scratchansniff and Rob have a little 'session' together, it's really quite funny.

So my brain went, how would Yakko Warner take to this situation?

Because I think, like Rob, Yakko's an Extreme optimist. He always tries to make people laugh, even in the most dire situations. So to have this kid watch his voice actor in such dire pain and he being unable to do something about it, because he doesn't know what to do? It's a great bonding moment to have between them.

Because let's be real for a sec, Yakko's 14, still a kid. So, he still has the brain of a child, he's still young. So Rob would most likely be a father figure for the boy to look up to, in turn, making the 14-year-old boy think he's losing his fatherly figure. Yakko's very very afraid, he's scared to lose him like anyone would be. He doesn't know that he's not gonna die, Yakko is not aware that Rob will be okay. He just immediately thinks he's gonna die, not giving Rob chance to explain that he'll be okay.

Because unlike Rob, Yakko would immediately jump to the worst case scenario.

So that's why Rob doesn't explicitly say he's not gonna die, because he knows that Yakko won't believe him.

But anyway, I hope you enjoyed this!
