Deep space imaging picks up a red and blue blur moving past the fringes of the solar system. By the time this information has been relayed to the researcher's superiors, the Man of Steel is hurtling past Mars, with no signs of slowing on his approach to Earth. Orbital cameras catch a glimpse Superman passing the moon, the gravity of the celestial body barely affecting his trajectory.

As he enters the atmosphere, the friction of his speed begins to ignite the very air around him. Superman's descent continues, his body unfazed by the high temperature. His suit, not designed for such extremes, begins to smolder and burn. His cape is whipped about violently in the wind, the frozen tundra of Antarctica rushing up to meet him.

The heat around him boils away layer upon layer of ice, exposing the rocky ground beneath as the escaping water vapor obscures the area in an expanding cloud. Great chunks of earth are heaved skyward, torn from their resting place by the terrific impact of Superman slamming into the frozen landmass. The falling mist glistens, settling onto the slabs and spires of the newly upthrust rock formation, quickly freezing over in the chill winds of the desolate snowscape.

3 Months Earlier

Barry Allen still can't control his abilities. It has been 3 weeks since what the tabloids are calling the "Flashpoint Event." He has shown no signs of anomalous behavior, but remains terrified of being "pulled back under." Despite the assurances of his medical staff, and even Superman (who visited quite regularly), the youth still suffers from the trauma of his experience in the "speed force," as he has begun referring to it.

The Wonder Woman, at Superman's behest, has convinced the Amazonians to allow Barry to reside with them, for a time. As the island of Themyscira was unharmed by the destruction caused during the young man's ordeal, the heroes have theorized that the magically protected and hidden island may offer some protection, should the young man find himself having a similar episode. While not entirely happy with the arrangement, Barry finds that he can't argue with their reasoning, and prepares for the seaward journey to his new home.

Barry is surprised to find Bruce Wayne waiting for him at the shipyard. Bruce explains that he has financed the entire venture, and he wishes the young man luck in his road to recovery. Barry thanks the celebrity billionaire as Diana makes her way over to him. With a quick, tight smile toward Bruce, she ushers a confused Barry Allen onto a futuristic looking ship, sleek and topped with super-thin solar panels. The pair board the vessel and set off without much fanfare as Mr. Wayne returns to his nearby limousine, his personal attendant already opening the door for him.

Now

Bruce and Diana are in clear, calm waters. The sun is just beginning to peek over the horizon as the yacht makes its way outside Themyscira's magical influence. Bruce shuts down the simple gas powered outboard motor and switches controls over to the ship's electric engine. The calm is broken by a loud beeping sound, accompanied by a flashing light on the console. Bruce flips a few switches and grabs a radio microphone. The beeping stops, the lights remain.

"Go ahead, this is Waterfowl-1."

"Wonderful to finally reach you, master Bruce. I expect your vacation in Greece went well?"

Diana raises an eyebrow in Bruce's direction as he replies, "Gorgeous weather and sights, as always."

"Splendid, sir. I trust you are looking forward to meeting the rest of the expedition team?"

"Absolutely."

"I am sending our location, sir. Looking forward to your arrival."

As Bruce hangs the microphone back onto it's bulkhead holster, Dianna looks over, puzzled.

"What expedition?"

The machinery begins printing, Bruce snatches the small slip of paper before it can fall to the floor. He glances over it, his eyes moving quickly.

"Let's find out."

Bruce takes to the controls, steering the ship South, toward gathering clouds.

By the time they reach the coordinates, Bruce and Diana have learned of Superman's return to Earth. It has only been three days, Alfred must have worked quickly.

At a small port on the coast of Australia, they see the ship. A massive icebreaker, anchored off the shore of a small tourist trap. Alfred stands waiting for them as Bruce pilots his way toward the dock and secures the yacht. He calls out to Bruce while tossing a mooring line up to the ship's deck.

"You've made good time, sir. I've taken the liberty of packing all your necessary supplies, master Bruce."

As he extends a hand for her to step onto the dock, Alfred smiles apologetically at Diana.

"Forgive me, I did think to accommodate you, but, alas, I do not know your size."

Diana laughs, waving away his concern.

"Don't worry, I'm just here because I'm curious. I'll be going home once I know what this is all about. Bruce is going to loan me his boat."

"Yacht, I'm going to loan you my yacht."

Alfred leads them along the wooden walkway, away from the large ship. Bruce continues his lighthearted complaint.

"Rated for open ocean, operable entirely on solar power, 34 hour battery life on a full charge, state-of-the-art..."

"It is a very nice boat."

As Alfred helps them into the small, simple craft and unties the mooring lines, Bruce looks around at the dingy dinghy.

"You see this? This is a boat."

The outboard motor roars to life, drowning out any reply as Alfred steers them toward the looming ship anchored in the deeper waters.
