Joey's P.O.V.
My life hasn't been the best. When I was a little kid, my parents split up, and I was left to live with my uncaring father. The worst of that was that I was separated from my sister, Serenity. I worked together with Tristan, my best friend, bullying other kids to vent off my pain. Eventually, I became friends with Yugi and Tea as well, and through our adventures together, I made more friends. My life was looking up, and it was even better when we met Mai. I fell for her instantly. Her eyes shone with confidence and pride, not going too deep into any emotion, and expressing beauty in their magnificent purple depths. Her hair was gorgeous and flowing, a wonderful complement to her eyes. The way she talked, the way she moved, the way she was…it all got to me. I never knew I could feel that way for anyone. But I felt it for her.
But I didn't know about her feelings. She seemed confident and strong, but on the inside she felt alone and unwanted. She joined Darts and his motorcycle slaves in their soul-stealing quest. I was heartbroken, for I knew we couldn't be together.
After my duel with Mai, I felt another strange sensation. Whenever I was around Tea, I felt my soul lift. She was a great friend, beautiful, smart…a great girl to have. I never thought anything could happen between us, so I silently looked on from a distance, hoping I could have my chance with her someday soon.
But that chance never came to be. Because now, Yugi and Tea are together. I guess I've always known they liked each other, but I still thought I could get with Tea. But no such luck.
Today, I was ambling through the streets of Domino City, thinking of my past loves and how I still wanted Tea. I walked past a café, and who did I see? Yugi and Tea, talking and laughing together. Though they did this often, I knew there was now an air of romance around them.
Now, I am just a silent bystander, watching from the distance, dreaming dreams that will never come true.
