Hello everyone! It's been a while and now it's a new story I'm popping up with! Sorry about how long the next chapter of Happily Never After is taking, I've been really busy. In the meantime, I have a fun little idea to share with you all.
How do you all feel about me bringing another SYOC into the mix? Well, it's here! And it is NOT connected to HNA whatsoever, so no worries about any future spoilers or anything (because yes, HNA is eventually going to have a sequel cause I have chronic idea syndrome, can't you tell?).
Anyway! Here's the short little prologue, I'll explain more at the bottom. Enjoy!
Lucifer clawed at the dirt around him, pushing closer and closer to the surface with every swipe of his clawed nails. It took barely minutes for him to surface and he glanced around almost impassively as he pushed himself out of the ground.
The place was almost stupidly bright, the hills too green for Lucifer's eyes and the clouds too light gray as they shielded the sun. Which was probably a good thing, considering the sun would blind Lucifer at this point. It had been so very long since he'd seen it.
"Ah, so you have arrived," a toneless voice commented.
Lucifer turned and smirked as he saw Gabriel approach him, her white wings stretched wide as if to emphasize her importance.
"What, ya miss me that much?" he drawled sarcastically, leaning back on his hands just to be contrary.
Gabriel glared down at him, clearly not impressed. Lucifer grinned, knowing his teeth were sharp enough to glimmer when the light caught them.
"On the contrary, I was preparing to welcome our guests on my own," Gabriel countered, still without a hint of inflection.
"Now that won't do. I can't miss the fun," Lucifer grinned as he finally stood up, his black wings spreading wide in a clear imitation of Gabriel. "All the fresh meat arrive then?"
"The guests are beginning to arrive, yes," Gabriel confirmed, the slightest hint of emphasis as she spoke.
Lucifer ignored her as he turned to inspect the rest of the rolling hills and valleys, ignoring the mountain in the distance for the meantime.
Buildings that typically were set-up on rare occasions were now the most spick and span he'd ever seen them, each one clearly labeled with what they offered. Some were simply cabins for the fresh meat to sleep in, others had the basic necessities of survival.
And others were quite obviously his subjects' handiwork.
"Ahh, so you did get my gifts, huh?" Lucifer grinned when he spotted the ice cream stands, the movie theater, and the pizzerias amongst other such gifts.
"I do not understand why you would send such things," Gabriel stated, the slightest hint of a glare in her covered gaze.
"Then you don't understand how I work," Lucifer grinned, stuffing his hands lazily in his pockets. His own eyes were no doubt glittering behind their covering."It's only fair, you all get to supply the basic stuff, I get to supply the fun stuff."
"And yet it is not you who rules the cosmos." Gabriel turned away as she spoke those words, a condemnation and a jeer all in one.
"Low blow, Gabby!" Lucifer pointed at her back in an overly dramatic manner.
Gabriel didn't even dignify him with a response. Lucifer held out for several minutes before he gave in and began to follow her.
The two made their way to the base of the island they stood on, where a circle had been created by the blades of angels. And resting inside the circle was beings made of pure light, sixteen in total.
"Perfect, I really did make it in time," Lucifer grinned as he observed the shapeless lights.
"Indeed, you have," Gabriel mused.
Soon, they would arrive. Soon, those lights would be real people.
And then…then is when the fun will begin.
And there we are! I know, it's really short, but there's a purpose for this. I want to keep OCs and who they belong to as secret as possible. So before anything else, I'm going to ask all of you how you feel about me announcing the cast but hiding the creators of the characters until the character in question is dead, let me know your thoughts!
Now, the theme of this new fic. This fic's theme is angels and demons, with a heavy influence from The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. Basically, I want to focus on how the outside doesn't always match the inside and that can come in many different ways, with many different results. It's going to be very fun to explore, if I do say so myself. Also, thanks to NSPunny for helping me work out some early plot kinks and being a great sounding board!
Now, here's the next important piece of news, which all of you as the audience will know but the characters themselves will not: everyone in this story is already dead. So go wild with their backstory to your heart's content! We're all about exploring life, death, the afterlife, and how perceptions of people effect how the world around them. It's gonna be really fun!
Okay, now some regular check list stuff. Everyone is allowed to send a maximum of 3 submissions. No limits on foreign characters, cause we've got universal translators in this purgatory. And, of course, once you submit a character, their fate is in my hands. The current deadline is being set for December 1st, but feel free to ask for an extension, I'm flexible with this stuff! Oh, side note, if you're unfamiliar with The Divine Comedy (Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso), I highly suggest watching Overly Sarcastic Productions' videos on them, they're hilarious and informative at the same time, and much easier to understand then Wikipedia.
