A/N. It is about Lily's death and is also the third part of a trilogy. The first one was My Wedding and the second one was My Child. Reading them is not required. Enjoy!
It was Halloween. Harry was asleep and Lily and James were on the sofa, watching their Hogwarts pictures. The doorbell rang and James went to answer it. Lily stayed in the living room. Suddenly, she heard James' yelling. "LILY, TAKE HARRY AND GO! IT'S HIM! GO! RUN! I'LL HOLD HIM DOWN!"
Lily started running out of the room and into Harry's room; she heard a door blast open and knew, that James was dead. Tears started trickling down her face.
I must save Harry. I couldn't save James but I am going to save Harry. Even if it takes my life. She vowed in her thoughts.
She reached Harry's room and started to pick him up, but before she could do so, she heard a voice behind her. The same voice, that had haunted her in her dreams for years.
"Step aside, girl, and you won't have to die!" said Voldemort, his voice shrill and as cold as ice.
Lily throwed herself in front of Harry and pleaded. "No! Not Harry! Please not Harry! Kill me instead!"
"Move aside, girl, and you won't have to die."
"NEVER!"
"Just move aside and you won't have to die!"
"NO! KILL ME INSTEAD! DON'T KILL HARRY! PLEASE!"
Voldemort raised his wand and said those infamous and most feared words of the wizard community. "AVADA KEDAVRA!"
There was green light and a redheaded body fell down onto the floor.
Two weeks later…
Tears fell down from Remus' face as he watched how they lowered the coffins of his best friend and his wife. He looked around. There were many people at the funeral: Hagrid, Dumbledore, McGonagall, the Longbottoms and many others. Most of them were crying. How could Sirius have betrayed them?
He picked up a lupine and a lily and walked to the coffins.
"Goodbye, James," he whispered and threw the lily on his coffin.
"Goodbye, Lily," he whispered once again and threw the lupine on Lily's coffin.
People started leaving, but Remus stayed and stared at the tombstones they read:
Lily Potter 06.X.1958-31.X.1980
A beloved mother and a friend.
We will miss you sorely.
Your true friends and family.
James Potter 30.IX.1958-31.X.1980
A good man who brought daylight
And laughter everywhere he went.
You will always live in our hearts.
Your family and friends.
"Remus!" a voice called out.
He looked around and saw Dumbledore.
"Come on, there is nothing we can do about it now. It's over."
"Yeah, I guess your right," Remus sighed and slowly started walking away but not before turning around one more time and whispering: „You will always live in my hart, no matter what. Always." He turned around and walked away.
