Autumnside Resort, a luxurious tropical getaway, perfect for tourism and the perfect place to hold a festival.

It was a blazing mid-September day, the height of the summer, but the temperature was reasonable enough and the Resort was full of people from all over, ready to chill and party. Decorations were set up with a massive banner flying above, the words reading: Annual Autumnside Resort Melon Festival, Perfect for Yummy Melons.

From the Mushroom Kingdom to Sarassaland and other regions such as Inkopolis, many citizens had come to see the festival and were eager to enjoy the yummy melons that were available for eating while others chose to leave the on-display melons alone.

She walked through the crowd, carrying a crate of milk jugs and sweating from the forehead, there was no way she was going to miss this event. She originally wasn't human, but even after her change, she still had a strong connection to what she used to be.

Melony, Meggy Spletzer's watermelon counterpart-turned human fighter and perhaps the only watermelon waifu in the world, had come to the festival on her own accord. After all, why wouldn't a watermelon-turned human like her attend such an interesting event?

But of course, she'd also volunteered to help with the refreshments for the guests and had gone to the nearest store to fetch plenty of milk. But the journey with the amount of milk she'd gotten was the challenge; while people drank water, there were people who needed calcium in their body and milk provided that.

It was Melony's job to help ensure that nobody got thirsty, and who ate without drinking?

A yellow straw hat rested upon her head, the same color as her sundress which Melony wore, the watermelon girl had even swapped her boots with sandals.

She carried the drinks to the refreshment stands and set them down, many others had already gotten milk and she was just the latest to make a milk delivery. With the job settled, Melony took off her hat and fanned herself, now she could enjoy the party. Hopefully, this was the last of her tasks.

Melony waved to a couple green haired Inklings near the "Bonk a Melon" gaming booth, thankfully, those melons were fake. The young squid kids noticed her out of the corner of their eye and waved back.

The green-haired girl stretched her arm and winced, that crate of milk had been heavy. She could use a good massage, perhaps they had a melon spa here... or a hot tub. Melony remembered that resorts were by a beach and many of them had swimming pools, the beach was probably real crowded, so perhaps a dip in the pool or a hot tub would be relaxing.

The green-haired melon girl walked through the crowd with a few men wolf-whistling at her, it was obvious that Melony's beauty had gotten their attention. She was just looking around when something steamy reached her nostrils.

At first, Melony thought she was smelling something yummy, but then she realized the smell was akin to the scent of hot water; A nearby hot tub.

It had taken her a while, but Melony finally realized that she was near the pool and hot tub area of the resort. She walked through a group of guests and got a look at the hot tub, which looked inviting. Melony then looked at her dress, realizing she didn't have a swimsuit. Best to take care of that now.

She spotted a changing curtain close by and took off her sandals, the watermelon girl ignored the eyes of a few men gazing at her, likely wanting her to themselves. She went inside the changing area and found a rack of swimsuits, someone was well prepared, but what to choose?

'C'mon...' Melony thought, 'Let's not be too revealing, don't want a lot of men staring.'

Her hand moved through the rack, starting with a couple one-piece swimsuits until she was in the two-piece swimsuit portion. Then, a particular swimsuit caught Melony's eye; a red-pink top with a half-green, half-dark bottom, she was quickly reminded of her dress.

"Hmmmm..." Melony thought.

A minute later, she exited the changing booth with a bathrobe on and peeled it off, revealing the swimsuit she had on, wearing a G-string bikini that highlighted her womanly figure and matched the color of her trademark outfit. Melony ignored the aches in her body and acted casually, winking at a few men watching her and waving to a couple shocked girls.

"Shit!" A blonde man remarked, "That is one hot waifu."

"What? Am I not enough for you." A red-haired woman in a one-piece snapped.

Melony didn't pay attention to the wolf-whistles and the awestruck gazes of the men she stepped into the hot tub and sat down in the steaming water, leaning back against the side with her arms over the edge and letting the water soak into her.

She needed this after that hard work of carrying those milk bottles and, after what had happened days ago with Zero and Axol, this felt like the perfect time to wind down. It would be some time before Melony ended up experiencing wacky adventures and fighting dangerous battles with her friends again, plus, she needed to train her powers.

"Yo, what's up?"

"Huh?"

The human watermelon turned, seeing a man with dark-green hair in a lime-colored speedo sitting in the hot tub next to her. He looked... very handsome.

"Hi..." Melony said, her face flushed, she had not expected to meet someone like... him.

"You okay?" The man asked.

"I'm okay, just hot today."

"Yeah, quite a season, but still an alright day. Name's Mellone Sed'der, my friends call me Mel."

"M-Mine's... Melony."

"Th-That's cute. So, how's it goin'?"

Melony winced a little, "Just relaxing after I carried a crate full of milk jugs."

"Quite heavy, girl. Yeah, be careful with what you carry. Gotta work those... muscles, how the heck could you even possibly carry those... cartons?"

"You're trailing off before you say what you say at the end, what's wrong?"

"Nothing, just trying to be a little careful with my words since you're a girl and... Can we talk about something else before things get a little... weird?"

Melony noted that Mell had scooched closer to her, they were both blushing and the guy she'd just met did look a little nervous, especially for someone who was sharing the hot tub with her.

"Sweet melons, huh?" Mell asked.

Hearing this, Melony's eyes widened and she blushed even more, "Wh-WHAT?"

"I'm talking about the watermelons, they're quite yummy."

"Shoot..."Melony breathed, "I thought you were..."

"Girl, I promise you; I have a load of respect for women and you are a nice person."

"Oh, th-thanks..."

Just then, a loud voice perked Melony and Mell's attention, it sounded like someone was chanting some kind of incantation... in Japanese. The scent of candle wax tickled Melony's nostrils and Mell rolled his eyes, almost unable to believe whatever was going on close by was actually going on.

They both turned, spotting a man in robes, kneeling on a carpet surrounded by candles with a watermelon and a waifu pillow with the man outstretching and waving his hands as if he were conducting some kind of weird ritual.

"Damn..." Mell remarked, "Just what is wrong with that guy, does he know that you can't bring waifus to life with a ritual like that?"

"Um, actually..." Melony held up her hand, "There is a way to bring waifus to life, but it's temporary and it involves a magic pen that an old friend of mine used."

"No, let's... let's not go there, especially when somethin' bad is about to happen."

Everyone seemed to hear the chanting and all eyes were on the weird ritual in progress, fixed upon the apparent anime waifu nerd who was up to something with that pillow and that watermelon. Melony wondered why he had a watermelon next to a body pillow, then it clicked, that guy wanted a watermelon waifu!

Just then, as the strange man kept chanting and chanting, dark clouds loomed in the sky and the candles puttered out. A strange light filled the resort and lightning exploded, Melony shielded her eyes and a horrible roar made its way through her ears. The air seemed to grow cold and a shadow loomed over.

Melony opened her eyes and gasped with shock. Looming over the area, eyes blazing red with horns on its head and crates for feet, was a gigantic monster made from watermelons. It was impossible, this couldn't be real.

Several people shrieked and ran for it, the crowds backed up as the monster raised its arms and roared, shaking the rooftops and causing glass to shatter.

"That fucking idiot!" Mell yelled, "That damn bastard, we're so screwed now!"

"I don't believe it..." Melony breathed with shock, she stepped out of the hot tub, dripping wet from her soak in the water, "The Watermelon Monster."

"And what the shit is a Watermelon Monster?" Mell asked, "Is it a giant waifu with huge watermelon-y weapons with a giant watermelon rod for a stick to probe people? Can someone give me a damn answer here, I don't know this shit!"

Melony lowered her gaze and glanced at the shocked Mell before glancing back at the humongous monster. "According to legend, the Watermelon Monster appears to wreak havoc when one conducts a magic spell when a certain number of watermelons are gathered..." She explained, "It is said that, when summoned, the Monster will eat those who eat melons."

"DON'T LET THAT THING EAT ME?" Mell wailed.

"I won't." Melony said firmly, her face narrowed, replacing her shock with fierce determination, "And the only way to defeat the monster... is to destroy it, which is what I must do... to protect my friends."

She closed her eyes and raised her hand, concentrating her powers as hard as she could with all the determination within her heart. The Deity Sword appeared and Melony took it up, her eyes opened and her pupils became white, glowing with great power. An aura surrounded Melony and she floated up into the air, ready for battle.

The monster roared again and swung its arm, swiping at the watermelon-turned human, Melony dodged hard to the right and shot upward into the air when the beast attempted to snatch her. Melony focused her power and her blazing aura exploded with vibrant golden energy, she charged the beast, her sword flashing.

Melony rushed the Watermelon Monster and swung her sword, cutting through the creature's shoulder; the beast roared in pain and lunched, trying to bite Melony's feet off. Melony backflipped to avoid being attacked and kicked the creature in the head, the Watermelon Monster stumbled around and nearly knocked over a food stand.

Acting fast, Melony charged and plunged the sword into the beast's side, moving quickly enough to move the beast towards the beach and away from the festival area without further damage to the environment.

She pushed hard, knocking the Watermelon Monster over as hard as she could. Melony sliced at it, grazing it's hide; red juice leaked out, tainting the sand. At least it was just watermelon juice, hopefully it could be cleaned up in due time.

"RRRRRGH!" The Watermelon Monster grunted, "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!"

"I won't let you harm anyone..." Melony said, her voice echoing as if she'd multiplied by a dozen, "Nor will I let you threaten the world, people are free to eat what they want and you are not going to change that, not everyone is evil and not everyone eats watermelons."

The Watermelon Monster raised its arm, baring claws of twig, and swiped at Melony, knocking her aside. The powerful watermelon-turned human recovered and shook it off, she flew back towards the beast at full speed, her sword raised and ready. Melony dove down and sliced through the legs of the beast, her blade cutting through the monster's knees.

Melony flew back up and rammed the creature's head, filled with more determination to protect people than ever. And while he was gone, Axol was with her in spirit, giving her the encouragement she needed to defeat this enemy and end this battle.

Her opponent stumbled forward, growling furiously. Melony could see its red eyes glowing with more rage; that thing really hated her. But despite its strength, Melony could sense it was on its last legs, the creature didn't seem to have much fight left in it. It was time to finish the battle!

Calling all of her will, all of her strength and power, Melony charged, her sword raised and gleaming with precision. The powerful fighter flew faster as the Watermelon Monster growled and Melony got ready, the distance was closing fast and that thing probably had one more desperate trick in store.

She didn't have to worry about that, nobody did. Melony rushed closer, the gap becoming tighter, and she gripped the handle of the sword, swinging the weapon as hard as she could and drove the blade through the head between the Watermelon Monster's eyes.

Melony's enemy grunted, liquid pouring from the wound. The beast stumbled back, weakened and dazed. Melony withdrew the sword and slowly descended to the ground, watching as the monstrous watermelon demon swayed.

The Watermelon Monster collapsed to its knees, its red eyes dimming. Then, it toppled over, collapsing into a pile of melons as the horns and eyes vanished. Just like that, the threat was gone.

"Whoa!"

Mell came running to Meggy's side, having seen the battle. Many of the guests had emerged from hiding, some were approaching the remnants of the monster and a couple photographers were taking pictures of what they were seeing.

Melony sheathed her weapon, the sword vanished and her powers subsided, nothing to even be worried about now.

Once everyone had recovered from the shock, festivities resumed, but there was a mess that had to be cleaned up. Thankfully, it didn't take too long for the melon juice to be cleansed from the beach area. The giant watermelons returned to regular size, but they had to be thrown out, due to being contaminated in sand and ocean water.

An exhausted Melony sat down under a palm tree, she sighed with relief, letting the sun shine on her and the breeze blow against her face. After that intense fight, the red-eyed watermelon girl could breathe.

"Yo, nice moves."

Mell sat down next to her and Melony smiled at him, "Thanks, Mell. It's a relief that you weren't hurt during the battle."

"Well, it's all thanks to you, girl." Mell remarked, "I bet you were thinking about me when you faced that thing, a lot of people think of someone when they go into battle and that motivates 'em..."

Melony blushed and realized that Mell was holding her hand. "Um, no..." She stammered, "I-I was thinking about A..."

"It's ok, girl." Mell said, "There's no need to be shy, just admit it, you like nice guys."

"Y-Yes?" Melony replied, "Y-You're cute and... I like you and... I was actually thinking about you when I fought that thing."

"And I like women who are gorgeous just like you." Mell chuckled, "C'mere, Melony."

Mell leaned closer and Melony smiled, finally realizing how much she couldn't resist this man's handsomeness. Even Mell seemed to read her mind, perhaps this cold work.

Melony put her arms around Mell, who then cupped her smooth face in a gentle manner, and leaned closer with Mell pulling Melony into a kiss. Melony grasped his face back and kissed him harder, the two of them kissed deeply as sea birds flew over and the tide rolled in,

Mell lay back with Melony atop him, kissing him all the way and enjoying the blossoming new love that had begun to form, Melony's reward for stopping the Watermelon Monster and saving the Watermelon Festival.

In fact, she may as well be giving this guy some well-deserved melons. The watermelon girl never felt happier, Axol would probably be happy for her and he likely was right now...
