Zoom was always up for a challenge, except for this. He'd be racing around any track in front of him unless the temp dropped below 60 then he just certainly couldn't deal. His team never really thought much of it as it wasn't necessarily uncommon for people to dislike cold weather and with his vehicle of choice there was hardly a way to keep themselves warm in snowy battle fields. Even the mention of cold seemed to make their teeth chatter, when AJ invited them to go sledding the team couldn't help but laugh when Zoom trotted out in several layers of jackets and two scarfs. He could hardly move and ended up rolling on the ground after falling into the snow. They all laughed it off and moved on except for Zoom. After Sage picked up on a storm shock they geared up, Zoom drove ahead wheels sliding across ice and sending them flying off their bike.

"Zoom?! You okay?!" Vert called out to him,

"I-I hate the c-cold" Zoom shuttered rubbing his arms as he stood back up.

Vert sighed in relief, "I know you do buddy. You should sit this one out!"

"T-trust me V-V-Vert you d-don't have to tell me." Zoom started his engine and started to make a b line to the portal.

That's when he heard a sound he had not heard in quite some time. It sounded like the cracking of ice, he looked under his tire. The portal had opened up next to a frozen lake. Covered in snow no one had even noticed it was there. Vert screamed for Zoom to stop and then- CRACK.

"Zoom wait! I don't think that's a good idea! Zoom!" That was Zen's voice,

"Relax Zen! When's the next time we'll get ice?!" Zoom was running towards a large pond that had frozen over. "Besides wouldn't you rather be here then doing those boring lessons?!"

"I like the lessons."

Zoom rolled his eyes "of course YOU do! Not me! I'm Zoom! I live life fast! Vroooooom!" He slid out onto the ice speeding around half running half gliding.

"Zoom! ZOOM! Please be careful!" The eight year old watched helplessly from the side. "I think it's cracking!!"

"Oh nooo hope I don't fall!" They said sarcastically, "I'm gonna do a flip! It's gonna be cool!"

Zen cringed and hid her face behind her hands. She knew no one could talk the hot headed twelve year old out of something once he had put their mind to it. Miraculous he managed to pull the flip off only partly sliding when he landed. Zen clapped her hands in amazement until it happened. After his second attempted he fell crashing into the ice and falling through.

"ZOOM!!"

He felt chilled to the bone, he struggled for his life but the icy water around him urged him to stop, to except it's embrace. He clawed at the ice above until Zen took his hand attempting to pull them up. They shivered violently breathing short raspy breathes that came out in visible puffs of smoke before his face. When Zoom woke up he was at the med bay, he was use to that by now. They always seemed to hurt themselves, the team were talking among themselves. When they sat up in bed the team took notice immediately.

"Zoom! How are you feeling?!" Spinner spoke first sitting by his feet,

"Not great honestly." Zoom sighed shaking their head,

"That is to be expected, I heard you took quite a fall." Zoom nearly jumped hearing Zen's voice.

Zen had a worried look across her face, she moved her hair with her fingers as she had grown it out but kept it shaved on one side. Zoom knew she had planned to do so, it looked right on her.

"Hey sis." They said plainly, "I like the hair."

"I would like a moment alone with Zoom please." Zen looked over at the other members of battle force 5. No one responded, just simply leaving the room even Sage agreed leaving the two to talk. "Don't worry I'm not angry with you."

"Really? Cause your doing the thing- with your eyes that tells me your angry."

"I'm worried about you Zoom. How many more hits can you take until you can't recover?" Zen shook her hair sorrowfully,

"A lot."

"Your not listening to me…but you never do." She sighed, "I didn't come here to tell you I don't want you to fight with them."

"Look I get that your concerned but I'm not the only one who takes a beating in the zones."

"That maybe but you are not one to let your injuries heal properly. Remember when you broke your pinkie?" She asked taking the spot Spinner had resided in.

"Don't remind me" Zoom leaned back letting out a loud aggrieved sigh,

"I'm staying for a while…to look after you." Zen explained with a soft smile, "I already talked it over with Vert. He thinks it's a great idea!"

"We can catch up! It might be nice!" He agreed nodding his head and you know I wouldn't miss the chance to bother you." He laughed until he began coughing violently.

"Easy…your still hurt." Her smile quickly disappeared as she stood to her feet.

Zen cared about Zoom but she only hoped they cared enough about themselves to wait out their recovery.
