Short fic I wrote after seeing Multiverse in theaters. I was pretty excited lol and a friend suggested I write a deagged story for Wanda. I wrote a chunk of it but this was the original first chapter. I found it going through some files and even though I didn't end up using it in the deagged fic, I decided to give it a shot and cleaned it up a little so please enjoy even if it's pretty short and simple.
Wanda is walking in a park, Vision is with her and she holds a small hand in each of her own.
The sun is smiling overhead and the trees flutter in the breeze.
They've eaten ice cream though she can't taste it. Billy has made a mess of himself with it.
Wanda assures him it will all wash out back at home.
He smiles and the breeze lifts his hair back from his head.
He's beautiful. He's so much more than she could have ever asked for and she thinks about both of her boys as the first bomb explodes.
Dirt flies and then the second lands, painted white and blue, splattering the earth with red. It leaves a crater where it explodes, more dirt and screams filling the air.
She looks to Vision but he's gone and her heart begins to speed up as she grabs her babies close and tries to protect them. Tries to shield them from a hell they've never known. From a world she has known.
They're crying and so are other children in the park, children that can't find their mothers anymore and mothers that suddenly aren't mothers.
Kids without mothers, mothers without kids.
It's insane and it's all wrong. There is no more Sokovia. Her boys have never seen their mother's home. They've never known bombs or paramilitary factions. They've never had to know upheaval or instability. Regime changes or ideologies and conflicts.
Dirt sticks to her hair as her children cling to her with a kind of fear she's known all her life.
She had a brother once.
They'd spent days trapped under rubble.
Now she didn't have a brother.
"I've got you." She tries to say, knowing she can't shield them from these bombs. No one can do that.
The earth explodes and suddenly she realizes with wild horror that she knows this park. It's in Novi Grad or it used to be. . . Before the world was thrown into the sky. Before it all came crashing down on the people that were left.
She screams too and her children sob, seeing horrors she never wanted them to know.
"Stick to me." She says, trying to hold them while everything implodes around her and the sky fills with smoke. "Stay with me." She whispers to her beautiful children.
They look up like helpless creatures and their eyes beg her for help, beg her to save them in ways she had no one to beg when she was young.
She can't hold onto them and like Pietro and Vision and Sokovia they're gone and she's staring into a crater, shaking and holding onto air.
Shaking and holding on to nothing.
She wakes with her heart hammering in her ear drums.
No more Mama, no more papa.
No more Pietro.
No more Vision.
No more Sokovia.
No more Tommy or Billy. . .
No more Wanda.
The Witch stirs, creeping to life as Wanda slips away.
