Forced Marriage:
When Erynion was 42, Elrond decided to marry her off to someone 'powerful'. Her acknowledgment of her male identity only made him more passionate about this scheme, intending to try and subdue her thoughts. He concluded that Erestor would be the best option, due to the Elf's already present feelings for Erynion, and the scheme in his mind was flawless. Elrond advised Erestor - who was unaware of this plot - to confess his love to Erynion, who had already been violently forced into 'reciprocating' his feelings. After they had confessed to one another in the gardens, prompting Erestor to propose, the Elf sought out Elrond to inform him of the events: Erynion felt the same and had agreed to be his bride. A great feast was held and the entirety of Imladris was included in the celebrations. Rings were exchanged and the couple were 'married' whilst everyone cheered them on - unaware that the arrangement was of Elrond's own design. After the celebrations, Erestor took Erynion back to his room and wedded her there, blissfully ignorant to her situation.
This sexual and 'loving' relationship continued for around a year before Erestor asked Erynion to bear children for him, assuming she would share his sentiments. Erynion was upset and intended to find her mother but, before she could attempt to seek her out, Elrond confronted her. She was, once again, beaten into compliance and forced to accept his proposal. Erestor impregnated her that night and, for the first time, she cried. Erestor, still oblivious, did not understand her upset and merely assumed that it was stress for an upcoming dance performance - one that Elrond had forced her to take part in. Unable to bear the guilt that came with the burden of an unwanted child, Erynion had subconsciously decided to end the pregnancy. On the day of the performance, the overwhelming emotions finally caught up to her and her Hröa complied with her Fëa, causing a miscarriage. She was alone, weakened and in anguish when her father found her; though he did not care. Despite her protests, Erynion was still forced to perform, so she danced. Her emotions were evident throughout her dance, perceived by the audience as being a masterful performance and rewarded with praise, despite the distress that caused it. At the end of the dance, she collapsed, dragging herself back to her room as she cried, though she did not weep for long. Erestor soon sought her out: he wanted to congratulate her. She had to compose herself quickly, terrified at the thought of his reaction, should he ever find out about the child. For weeks she lived her life as usual and, though she was still suffering the consequences of everything she was put through, she managed to keep her torment concealed, and Erestor was none the wiser.
On one eventful night, Erynion had a dream, perhaps a vision, of what her (his) life could be without the influence of Elrond or of Erestor, and she longed for it. But with her longing came great despair, for her thoughts of suicide, thoughts that had been kept dormant for some time, were revived. She decided that, if she was to live her life how she wanted, free from the influence of her father, her only solution was death - an eternal escape. That night, she took a blade to her wrists and bled. On the border of death, as she thought peace was mere moments away, she (he) was found. She (He) was 'saved', as others may conclude, healed and cared for by her (his) friend, but the pain was too great and he could not lie any longer. He told Erestor of the forced marriage - the scheme of his father, of the loss of the baby and of his true identity. Erestor was shocked, though he had suspected it for some time, and was left in denial by his words. How could he accept that? What should he feel? Angry? Hurt? Accepting? His shock rendered him apathetic, forcing him into a listless acceptable, and he removed his ring and left: what choice was there? Erynion was relieved, finally free of his burden, and longed to live with his true identity more than ever. After a few more years of struggle, enduring more pain, he was eventually granted his boon during the fiftieth year of his life.
