"Alright, Orgoth the Relentless attack him directly!" A boy cried as he points to a teenager standing across to him. A large muscular blue figure clad in purple and gold armour charged towards the boy across him. Orgoth struck the boy with flat of its broadsword sending him flying.

"Aaah!" The boys opponent yelled as he was sent flying before crashing to the ground in a cloud of dust.

[Yugen: 2600LP - 100LP]

"I set 1 card and end my turn. Y'know you should really stop trying to duel others that are clearly stronger than you, Yugen." The boy sneered as he pushed up his glasses in a way that causes the lenses to reflect all the light. "Imagine losing to a 10 year old!"

"Be careful about what you say brat," Growled a voice from the dust cloud, as the dust cleared away the boy could see the figure, it looked like Yugen but his colours seemed more muted and darker his face was obscured by shadows "'cause I'm just about to get started on your punishment."

"What?" The boy said stepping back slightly, he didn't know how such hostility could come from a person.

"I draw!" he yelled.

[Yugen-Mask: 100LP]

[Hand: 0-1]

"I start of by activating the Spell Card Element Rush!" Mask yelled as he threw down the card on his Duel Disk, a larger version of the card appeared in front of him, the image on the card showed 6 coloured orbs (Red, Blue, Orange, Green, Purple and Yellow) racing at high speeds. "I declare an Attribute and excavate the top cards of my deck until I reveal a monster that has the Attribute I declare and then I summon it, and I choose Dark!"

"Dark? But you've never used a Dark monster before!" The boy stammered.

Coloured orbs started racing out of Mask's Duel Disk. First Red, followed by another Red, followed by a Yellow and then finally a Purple Orb shot out of his Duel Disk.

"No way..." The boy said quietly.

"Prepare to face the dragon whose shining scales hide its true nature, descend Multi Scale Mask Dragon!" Mask yelled. All the orbs started merging with the Purple one, the orb started getting larger and larger before it stopped growing and then shot up into the sky.

"Where did it go?" The boy asked only to be answered by a deafening roar, he looked to see a large figure standing on the ledge of a nearby skyscraper. Its eyes glowed a menacing red, it was a lightly built humanoid dragon with no wings, it roared once more causing 3 glowing purple flames to erupt from each of its shoulders. The dragon then leaped off of the building and flew towards the direction of the Duel and crashed onto the ground causing a cloud of dust to form, when the dust cleared the Dragon towered over the boy staring directly at him.

[Multi Scale Mask Dragon] [Dark] [Level 7] [Dragon] [ATK: 2500] [DEF: 2000]

"Due to Element Rush's effect it gains attack equal to half the total attack of all monsters excavated excluding itself" Mask said as he said so the flames from Multi Scale Mask Dragon's back grew even brighter casting a dark shadow over the boy.

[Multi Scale Mask Dragon] [ATK: 2500-4250]

"Battle! I attack Orgoth The Relentless with Multi Scale Mask Dragon! When Multi Scale Mask Dragon does battle all monsters you control lose 300 attack for every different Attribute in my graveyard, there is currently 4 Attributes in my graveyard so Orgoth loses 1200 attack, Prism Madness!" Multi Scale Mask Dragon fired a 4 bursts of fire towards Orgoth, melting away his armour and weapon.

[Orgoth The Relentless] [ATK: 2500-1300]

"Aaaah!" He cried as he landed on his back. He staggered back up to his feet.

[Little Timmy: 4000LP-1050]

"I activate my Quick-Play Spell Reforged!" Little Timmy said gasping, the card he set flipped up the image showed a hammer striking a hot piece of metal. "By discarding 1 card I can Special Summon a Machine or Warrior monster from my Graveyard, come back Orgoth!"

[Little Timmy: 1050LP]

[Hand: 1-0]

A large hammer started hammering what appeared to be a shattered version of the sword Orgoth wielded until the sword looked as good as new, then a hand grabbed the sword and passed it onto Orgoth the Relentless.

[Orgoth The Relentless] [Earth] [Level 7] [Warrior] [ATK: 2500] [DEF: 2450]

"That's not enough!" Mask yelled, "Once per turn I can pay half my Life Points to activate Multi Scale Mask Dragon's effect. I can destroy all monsters you control and I inflict damage equal to the attack of the highest Level Monster you control! Spectrum Chaos!" Multi Scale Mask Dragon flew up into the air before pulling its head back.

[Mask: 100LP-50LP]

"Finish him..." Mask said coldly, Multi Scale Mask Dragon pulled its head back before launching a volley of flames destroying Orgoth and scorching Little Timmy.

"Aaaaaaah!" He yelled in pain as he was sent flying once more.

[Little Timmy: 1500LP-0]

Afterwards Yugen seemed to come to and then witnessed the carnage.

"What happened here?" Yugen asked before noticing Timmy on the ground and ran towards him, "Hey! You okay?" Yugen was shaking Timmy frantically, then Timmy's eyes opened and when he saw Yugen his eyes grew wider and he pushed himself away from Yugen.

"Get away from me!" He cried, Yugen was obviously confused by Timmy's sudden fear.

"Hey, I'm only trying to hel-" Yugen started before being interrupted.

"You, trying to help? Well that's rich coming from the guy who thinks its okay to set a kid on fire!" Timmy yelled, the hatred in his voice cut into Yugen like a knife.

"What are you talking about? I suddenly blacked out when Orgoth hit me and then when I wake up I see several wrecked benches and you lying down on the ground." Yugen said.

"Stop lying!" Timmy yelled, "After I attacked you, you said you were going to punish me!" Timmy stared at Yugen with a mixture of fear and hatred before running away leaving behind a confused and slightly disturbed Yugen.

What just happened?

What happened back then? Why was that kid so scared of me?

"Yugen you there?" A voice called out, bringing Yugen back to reality. "Yugen if you're not going to listen I'm going to pull out that stupid ponytail out!"

"What? Sorry Seira... I got distracted again." Yugen apologised to the girl standing in front of him. He stood up and started walking away. "What was it your saying?"

"I was saying that there is a rumour circulating around about a savage duellist that challenges duellists and by the end he leaves them brutally injured" She said. "Now I've been thinking why don't we try to find the Duel Savage and get you to challenge him."

In the back of Yugen's head he was wondering if the sudden appearance of this Duel Savage was connected with his blackout. He shook his head not wanting to think about it for too long, his ponytail hitting Seira in the face.

"Can you please cut that stupid ponytail?" Seira asked as she swatted the hair away. "But anyway, we find the Savage and challenge him and then that would build up your reputation and you might be able to enter that tournament that's coming up."

"I dunno, as much as I want to enter that tournament I prefer to have my bones not having compound fractures..." Yugen responded, he started walking away with Seira following him.

"C'mon, how else are you going to enter the tournament? The entry form requires you to have a recording of you winning against a high-tier opponent!" She said, she puffed up her cheeks in frustration. "As your friend for 16 years and your unofficial manager, I'm just tryna help you get to the top."

"I know, I know and I appreciate the help but I prefer to have my body intact for later duels." Yugen sighed.

"You've got a point, if you're hurt you can't really duel can you..." Seira said. As the two continued along Yugen felt a sharp pain at the back of his neck.

"Hey ponytail!" a voice sneered, Yugen turned around to see a boy around the same age as him, he wore combat boots, cargo pants and a leather jacket over a blue t-shirt with an insignia on it the superficially resembled a water droplet. "You were talking about trying to find that savage duellist?"

"Yeah, wait were you eavesdropping?" Yugen said.

"I will neither confirm nor deny that accusation..." The boy said, "Anyways I heard you were looking for the savage duellist to duel him right?" Seira nodded, Yugen was looking at Seira trying to signal her to stop.

"Yeah, wait do you know where he is?" Seira said, her eyes widening slightly with excitement.

"Yeah I know where he is," the boy started before shifting his focus onto Yugen, "and its Ponytail over there!"

"What gives you the idea that the savage duellist is me?" Yugen asked in response to the boys accusations.

"Easy, the first person to have duelled the savage was this little kid, so I tracked him down and started asking him about the duel" The boy started as he started getting closer to Yugen, "and he said that the savage was a kid around my age named Yugen."

"Even if Yugen was the savage duellist, why would you care so much about that?" Seira asked as she stepped in between Yugen and the boy.

"Well isn't it obvious?" The boy asked her, "The upcoming tournament requires footage of the applicant winning a duel against a high tier opponent and there is no greater opponent than the savage duellist that has been making headlines recently." The boy pulled out a Duel Disk from his pocket and inserted his deck into it.

"Duelling Savage, I Kane Setsuna challenge you to a duel!" Kane said as he pointed towards Yugen.

[Authors Notes]

So about each of the characters introduced in this chapter.

Yugen Nichika:

The protagonist of Project Revive, his body also plays host to another personality that has been dubbed Mask due to Mask's Ace monster being named Multi Scale Mask Dragon. His goal is to be the best in the hopes of getting his estranged father to notice, he is always seen having a ponytail to the ire of Seira and others the reason he keeps it is because his mother (who is currently overseas, I'm not the kind of person who's is just gonna deprive a teenager of both his parents) said it made him look cool.

Mask:

Also known as the Savage Duellist or Duelling Savage not much is known about him other than that he takes over Yugen's body resulting in what Yugen calls Blackouts where he falls unconscious, his relationship with Yugen is similar to the pop-culture depiction of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, where Mask, like Mr Hyde is a separate personality that takes over rather than a transformation that allows their respective hosts to act on their carnal urges.

Little Timmy:

He's just a throwaway character. Nothing more nothing less, he is just their to set the whole Mask plot line in motion by being Mask's first victim

Seira Aido:

The female lead of Project Revive and Yugen's childhood friend. Seira is also Yugen's self proclaimed manager often going out of her way to find people for Yugen to Duel in the attempts of building up their reputations.

Kane Setsuna:

Believe it or not he is going to be the best friend character of Project Revive, his role is similar to Shark's role in Zexal (minus the whole being the reincarnation of some dead guy and ultimately getting killed along with the rest of the Barians until Zexal 2 I'm pretty sure, its been a while since I watched Zexal) in the sense that he is hostile towards Yugen but slowly warms up to him.
