Chunin Exams Testing room
Naruto and Suki proceeded to an empty spot in the classroom. They were met by multiple glares from other applicants leaking some of their killing intent. Havin recently returned from the Land of Waves, Suki was no longer affected by it. When the other genin team's arrived, it seems the applicant's attention was shifted on to them.
"Hey! Suki! I've been looking all over for you!" shouted Ino as she ran over and hugged her best friend. "Hey, where is Sakura?" asked Ino as she looked around.
"Sakura is no longer part of team seven. Now, please get off of me." Suki said with an annoyed expression.
"Huh? Hey, I know it's early, but you idiots know that you need three people to participate with, right?" asked Kiba Inuzuka.
Naruto sighed. "God, this is annoying. Can we just start this damn exam?" Naruto mentally asked himself.
"So, the rumors tell me that you and Naruto are a thing." Ino said with a smirk.
"So what? It doesn't matter what anyone thinks." Suki said as she had a blush on her face.
"Are you serious? You two? You two are actually dating?" asked Choji.
"Yes. Now, can we please be left alone?" Suki asked in annoyance.
"Oh, have you guys kissed? Does he take you out on dates? Is he a gentleman?" asked Ino who became interested in both Naruto and Suki's love life.
"Ino, our relationship is none of your business. Please step off." Suki said with a slight glare.
Walking up to the group of rookies, a white haired boy with circular glasses and a purple colored outfit approached them. "Rookies, huh? If I were you, I'd keep it down. The chunin exams put massive pressure on many of us." the boy said.
"Who are you?" asked Ino with an eyebrow raised.
"I'm sorry, my name is Kabuto Yakushi." the boy said with a smile.
"You sound like you've taken these exams before." Suki pointed out.
"That's right. The exams are held twice a year. This will be my seventh attempt and fourth year." Kabuto said with a sheepish laugh.
"No way, nobodies that stupid. I better keep an eye on you." Naruto mentally noted.
"Wow, you must really suck." Kiba commented.
"Not really. I've been able to gather massive loads of information. I'm hoping with all the information I've gathered, the higher ups will give me a promotion. Since you guys are rookies, I'll give you some insight. Just give me their names and I can tell you all about them." Kabuto said with a friendly smile.
"No way..." Naruto thought. He then walked over to Kabuto. "I want to know about Gaara of the desert, Suki Uchiha, and myself, Naruto Uzumaki." Naruto said.
"Huh? I haven't had anyone ask about themselves or there teams before." Kabuto said as he drew three blank cards and began channeling chakra to them.
"Naruto? You don't know about your partner's abilities?" asked Shikamaru.
"That's not it. I'm just curious to see what information has been collected about my team." Naruto said.
"Gaara of the desert. Thirteen years old and from Sunagakure. His teammates are his older brother, Kankuro, the puppet master and Temari, princess of the wind. His abilities are unknown but have had many declare him to use sand. It's assumed he uses the bloodline of the magnet releave. He's currently in the bingo book as an engage with caution, kill on sight in Iwagakure, Kirigakure, and Kumogakure. He's completed five D ranks, eight C ranks, nine B ranks, and over fifteen A ranks. It says here that he's never been scratch, not once." Kabuto finished reading.
Many of the Konoha ninja were in absolute shock at hearing Gaara's report. Suki looked at her boyfriend. Naruto gave an assuring smile before asking Kabuto for her information. "Ah, yes. Here we go." Kabuto said.
"Suki Uchiha. Twelve years old, from Konohagakure, and the last remaining loyal Uchiha member. Her teammate is Naruto Uzumaki, and up until recently, her teammate was Sakura Haruno. Her abilities show that she's skilled in the Fire Release along with having activated the Sharingan. Her skills in Taijutsu are above average for a genin. She's completed over one hundred D ranks along with two C rank missions that turned A rank." Kabuto read.
"Interesting." Naruto thought.
"Naruto Uzumaki. Twelve years old from Konohagakure. His teammate is Suki Uchiha, and up until recently, Sakura Haruno. His abilities have been declared as a holder of the Rinnegan, ability to use the Swift and Wood release at will. Son of Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki. Has been said to have killed Iwagakure's Stone Demon, along with eliminating Kiri's Demon of the Hidden Mist. He's currently in the bingo book with a flee on sight order from both Iwagakure and Kirigakure. He's completed over one hundred D rank missions and has completed two C rank missions that turned A rank." Kabuto said.
"Impossible. Only myself, Kakashi, Suki, and the Hokage know about my heritage. It seems he's a spy." Naruto thought.
"Wow, you have a lot of information. What can you tell us about the overrall participants?" asked Ino.
Kabuto smiled. "Well, I'll show you this. Konohagakure is the place these exams are being held. So, it's not strange for them to have the most number of people. There are twenty-nine teams participating from Konoha, ten from Suna, seven from Ame, two from Kusa, and one from Oto. As you can see, Konoha and Suna are much larger than the other vilalges. So it isn't unsual for them to send the most number of participants. Smaller places like Ame and Kusa, they depend on getting the attention. Places like Oto, which is considered to be new and small, can only send one team." Kabuto explained.
"Did you hear that? Four-eyes thinks we're small. Let's go show him how strong the sound really is." said a boy with a head protector and a yellow shirt.
"I agree." said a bandaged man with a silver gauntlet on his hand. Naruto noticed their sudden movements as they went to strike, Naruto sent them flying.
"Almighty Push." Naruto muttered and the three ninja from Otogakure were sent flying into the wall.
"What the hell was that?" asked the bandaged man.
"Sorry, but I don't think fighting is allowed in here." Naruto said with a smirk.
Everyone was in utter shock at what Naruto just did. Suddenly, a large burst of smoke appeared at the front of the room. "Knock it off! Do you want to be disqualified before the exam begins? Sound ninj, I'm giving you a warning. Don't test me." said the voice of a man in a black trenchcoat with a massive scar on his face.
"Yes sir, we're sorry. We just got a little too excited." said the boy with the face protector arrogantly.
"Whatever. Everyone, find a seat. I'm the proctor of this exam. My name is Ibiki Morino." the named now declared as Ibiki said.
The applicants took their seats and once everyone was seated, Ibiki went through a series of hand seals. "Their, we wouldn't to have any dishonest test takers, now would we?" the man asked with a sinister smirk. "Alright, listen up closely. I won't be answering any questions. For the first exam, you'll be taking a ten question test. On the paper, you'll see their are only nine questions. You will have one hour to complete this exam. Fifteen minutes before the test ends, I'll give you the tenth and final question." Ibiki said.
"Now, for the rules. You start with ten points, for every question wrong or not answered, that's a deduction of a single point. If you're caught cheating, that's two points to be taken off. If you're caught five times, you and your team will be disqualified. Your test begins now." Ibiki said.
The applicants immediatly began working on their exam. Naruto looked down before smirking. "Interesting, I don't know the answer to any of these questions. I'm sure the only people that know them would be Shikamaru and Hinata. Also, why is there only a two point deduction? In the academy, cheating was grounds for immediate removal." Naruto thought.
Across the room, Suki was glancing at her teammate. "So, we're to gather information. I guess as a chunin, we need to not only get information, but get right information. I wonder who has the answers. Aside from Naruto and myself, their are two more heads. Which means, I need to figure out who to copy from." Suki said as she activated her sharingan.
"Alright, Akamaru... Go ahead and tell me what you see." Kiba said in a low tone to his ninja hound.
Many of the students began using their own skills to gather information. While Ibiki saw this, he technically had no proof that the participants were cheating. "Number twenty-two! You've been caught five times. That also means number eighty-five and one hundred-three fail! Get out." shouted Ibiki.
The three ninja whose numbers were declared left. Naruto smirked as he glared at the proctor before making symbols to the man. "We have an imposter among us." Naruto signaled.
"Who is it? Also, how did you gather this information?" Ibiki signaled back.
"Kabuto Yakushi. Taken the exam six times before, this is his seventh try. He has proven to me that he has classified information that only the hokage is aware of. Also, he's got a strong scent of snakes on him. Sounds like the former sannin of Konoha, Orochimaru has planted a spy. Orochimaru is also in the room." Naruto signaled.
"Okay. Don't make any sudden moves." Ibiki signaled.
It was then Naruto chuckled. "Wood Release - Four Prison Pillar Jutsu." Naruto said as a massive prison of wood formed around a ninja from Kusagakure. "Sorry, Orochimaru. But you've been discovered. "Wood Release - True Spear Tree." Naruto said as multiple branches formed from the ground and pierced through the ninja's body.
Everyone was in absolute shock at what they saw. "Haha. Very impressive, Naruto. But I'm afraid this is just a clone." said the Kusa ninja as her body began to melt.
"Silence! You're taking an exam! Applicant number sixty-six! You've been deducted four points! Anymore outburst from you will result in removal from this exam!" Ibiki shouted at Naruto, though, he signaled that he was impressed and that Orochimaru has been known to be slippery.
Naruto nodded as he sat back and waited for the tenth question to be called. As time passed, more applicants had their numbers called and one of them had the never to charge at Ibiki. They were taken down by one of the chunin on side of the room.
When Forty-five minutes passed, Ibiki spoke up. "Alright, pencils down. It's time for the tenth and final question. However, their are more rules you should be informed of." Ibiki said with his sinister glare.
"Wait, more rules?" asked a girl wearing a pink shirt with a set of brown buns on her head.
"Shut up! Those who wish to remain and take this question are free to do so. Those of you who wish not to take the last question, raise your hand. You and your team will be disqualified." Ibiki explained.
"That's stupid. Who would be dumb enough to back out?" asked Temari.
"Hold on, you didn't let me finish. If you wish to back out of the exam now, you can try again in another six months. However, if you stay, and get the question wrong. You can never take the chunin exams again." Ibiki said.
"What! That's bullshit! There are many people who've taken the exam multiple times!" shouted an enraged Kiba.
"Then I guess you're just unlucky. The others didn't have me last time." Ibiki said.
As he scanned the room, more and more people began giving up. This amused Naruto. To Suki's surprise, her blond haired teammated raised his hand. Ibiki, along with the other applicants were shocked to see the blond perform such an act.
However, Naruto slammed his hand on the desk. "As a chunin, you don't get to choose what missions you take. As a shinobi, our duty is to take on whatever challenge comes are way! I don't care if I'm a genin for the rest of my life! I'm not going to back down from some question." Naruto said with determination in his voice.
"But you don't know the outcome. You could easily die if you proceed. Even your team could fall. Speaking of a mission, of course." Ibiki said with a challenging smirk.
"Then go home and be a civilian. I don't quit and I don't run." Naruto said. Hearing this made many of the other applicants nod in agreeance. Suki blushed with a smile at her boyfriend's words of confidence.
"Hm, it seems the brat's words motivated the others. Well, that means only one thing." Ibiki thought to himself. "Alright, you all pass." Ibiki declared.
"What? What about the tenth question?" asked Ino.
"Don't you get it? That was the tenth question. The question was to see if you had the determination to proceed forward and take on the risk of failing and never becoming a chunin." Ibiki said.
"I still don't get it." Temari said.
"Let me put it this way. There will be times that you're faced with a challenge. The consequences may be deadly. Are you going to back out and quit the mission? Or are you going to take on whatever comes your way for the sake of the mission? That's what it means to be a chunin." Ibiki said.
In that moment, a loud explosion occured in the room. A massive banner stood in front of the class room. "No time to rest now, boys and girls! I'm your proctor for the second exam! My name is Anko Mitarashi!" the purple haired woman shouted as she was wearing a trench coat.
She scanned the rooms and smirked at the reactions. It was when she saw Naruto's uninterested gaze that she mentally sighed. "Anko, you're early, again." Ibiki said.
Seeing this, she quickly came up with a response. "Ibiki, look how many are left. I think you've grown soft on me." Anko muttered.
"Maybe, or it could be that we had a good crop this year." the man with a black trench coat declared.
"Whatever, I'll be sure to reduce their numbers by half, if not into the single digits." Anko said with a sinister look. "You're all dismissed. Your jonin sensei will have your instructions on where to meet." Anko said.
"Applicant number sixty-six. You're to remain behind." Ibiki called out.
Naruto sighed. "Suki, just go on home. I'll see you when I finish up with psycho and scarface over here." Naruto said. Anko chuckled at the nickname while Suki nodded and left with the group of ninja.
"I must say, you're quite brave to call out Orochimaru like that." Ibiki said.
"Huh? What are you talking about?" Anko asked as she turned to face the man.
"Young Uzumaki here, he thought it was a bright idea to call him out in a room full of genin." Ibiki said.
"It isn't my fault that Konoha isn't skilled enough to detect one of its most wanted ninja. I mean, seriously. Shouldn't the room have proper seals to prevent anyone entering?" Naruto asked.
"He's got a point, scarface. Anyway, go ahead and report to your jonin sensei. If you find out anymore information on Orochimaru, report it to your jonin sensei." Anko said as she dismissed the blond.
Naruto nodded before turning to face Ibiki. "Kabuto knows that I'm his son. Might not be a bad idea to look into the matter." Naruto said as he vanished in a yellow flash.
Anko looked in surprise. "Whose son is he?" asked Anko. All she got was a sigh and a headshake from Ibiki.
Uchiha Compound
"But do you understand why they are pissed off with you?" asked Kakashi was looking at the blond with a lazy glare.
"They can be pissed off. Orochimaru needed to know that he was spotted. Besides, I already figured out his game plan." Naruto said.
"What's that?" asked Kakashi who raised an eyebrow.
"He probably wants Suki's sharingan or my rinnegan. I'd assume the Byakugan would be something he'd desire. But since we've got an entire clan, it wouldn't be anything for him to grab it. So, I'd say that Suki and I are his targets." Naruto said.
Kakashi sighed. "Well, be careful. Lord Third is allowing the exam to continue. Make sure you two stick together." Kakashi said as he vanished in a shunshin.
"What the hell was that all about?" Suki asked.
Naruto rubbed his eyes. "I'm tired, can we just go to bed?" Naruto asked.
Suki saw the looked of being beat in his eyes before petting his head. "Sure, come on." Suki said and the two of them proceeded upstairs to get rest before the upcoming exam.
