Chapter 6
A/N- I am beginning to really love this. Draco is so wonderful, but Hermione's with Ron, right?? We'll see what happens.
I would like to make a special shout out to my reviewers! You are all wonderful. Especially you, Natyslacks, you are awesome!
Several days past and Hermione was actually beginning to enjoy Draco's company. She even began to feel comfortable with him. They were constantly talking about books and having discussions about their school work. Hermione loved talking to Draco. He seemed to be so smart. In fact he was the second smartest student in their year. Hermione herself was the first. (Who else) They would talk about things that she would never be able to talk about with Harry and Ron. With Ron and Harry she would be talking over their heads, but Draco seemed to follow everything she said. It was such a pleasant relief to be able to talk to someone who was intelligent. Then again, that was not all that they talked about. They would also discuss Muggles, Quidditch, everything. The only thing that they had not talked about was Draco's family. He seemed to purposely avoid the subject so Hermione left it alone. She soon began considering Draco as a friend. 'Never thought I would hear myself say that.' she thought.
"Hermione," a voice yelled from the bottom of the stairs. "Where are you?"
Hermione recognized the voice immediately. "In my room, Ron. Come on up!" she yelled.
She heard some stomping on the stairs before she saw a tall red-head appear in her doorway. She smiled and gestured for him to sit on the bed beside her. He did then he turned and looked at her. He stared at her for a few minutes before saying, "H-Hermione, I need to talk to you."
"Okay Ron, What's up?" she said as she smiled at him. Their relationship had been going smoothly. A few days after her compromise with Draco he had kissed her on the lips for the first time. (With a little help from Hermione herself)
"Ummmm…well…Hermione, you see…I think we should break up…I like you a lot, but it seems like we had more fun when we were just friends." Ron murmured as he stared intently at the floor.
This took her off guard. She stared at his form with wide eyes. After a few seconds of grasping what was going on around her she said, "Oh, okay Ron. If you think it is the best."
"I guess I do." he replied, still not looking up at her,
"Okay, well I guess I will see you later then." she said, trying to get him to leave. She did not want him to see her cry. "Bye."
Feeling really awkward, Ron got up and left without saying another word.
When Hermione heard the portrait close she broke down completely. 'Where did that come from. Did I do something? Why am I crying? We are better as friends, I agree with him. Yet, here I am, crying. I guess it's because he was my first kiss…wait…no he wasn't…it was Draco.' she thought as she laid there and cried. She put her face in her hands and cried.
A few minutes later a figure appeared in her doorway, but she didn't notice. The person slowly walked towards her. He carefully sat on the bed next to her, not wanting to frighten her. He slowly out an arm around her and held her. She was startled at first, but when she realized who it was she relaxed and buried her head in his chest. He responded to this by wrapping his arms around her and holding her close. All he could hear was he sobbing. He wanted to ask what happened, but he knew that she just needed her to hold him for now. 'I am going to kill the person who made her cry!' he thought.
After a little while her tears slowed and she pulled back from him and stared up into his beautiful silver eyes. He took this as an opportunity to ask her what happened. "What happened, Hermione?"
"R-Ron…broke up with…me." she said between sobs. She started to fell the tears threatening to pour out once more, but she refused to let them fall. 'No, this is stupid. I was thinking about breaking up with him anyway. Why am I so upset about?' she thought, mentally yelling at herself. She looked up at Draco for a few more seconds before turning away once again.
He reached his hand forward and lifted her chin so their eyes meant. He slowly tilted her head back and kissed away the tears on her cheeks. Soon he claimed her lips with his once again. The kiss was full of passion and need. She immediately leaned into the kiss and kissed him back with the same amount of passion and need that he had. He wrapped his arms around her slim waist and she snaked her arms around his neck. Her pulled her closer to deepen the kiss and she did the same.
Hermione was in a daze. She totally forgot about her tears and kissed him back. She began to play with his silky blond strands of hair as she pulled him close to her once again, deepening the kiss.
Draco pulled back just long enough to take a couple quick breaths, before claiming her lips yet again. After yet another long kiss he pulled back again and opened his eyes to look at her. She looked like she was drugged. Suddenly she blushed and turned her head away from his gaze. He too felt blood rushing up to his cheeks and turned away.
After what seemed like hours Hermione finally turned back and broke the silence. She cleared her throat and said, "Ummmmm, Draco. Why did you just kiss me?"
He took this as a hint that his was an emotion that was not returned. "Well…sorry. I guess I got caught up in the moment. I will go now." he said as he started to get up.
"No, it's okay. I-I don't want you to leave just yet." she said as she grabbed his arm.
"Why?" he asked.
"Ummmm…I dunno. I guess I would just like some company. That is if you don't mind." she replied quietly.
This caused him to smile at her and say, "I think I will stay." He sat back down next to her on the bed. "So, do you want to talk about it?" he said.
"I would like that. I would like that a lot." she said, smiling at him.
She told him everything. She told him about her feelings, about her planning on breaking up with him, and about how they had got together in the first place. He sat and listened to her. He turned out to be a very good listener.
By the time she were done, they were both laying on Hermione's bed staring up at the enchanted ceiling. They were looking at the night sky and the stars. They laid that way for a few minutes before Draco said, "What are you thinking about?"
"Well, I was thinking about the Potions essay that is due tomorrow." she replied.
This caused Draco to turn his head and look at her. "Really?" he asked.
She turned her head and looked into his eyes. She studies the shining silver orbs for a moment before turning back to the ceiling. "No, I was not thinking about my Potions essay…I already finished it." she said in a voice that screamed- I am so good!
"Yeah, I am finished with it too." he said as he too turned back to look back at the night sky shimmering above them.
This caused Hermione to turn to him once again. He tried to hide his self-satisfied smirk but it was pointless. Suddenly a pillow crashed into his face. "Oww. What did you do that for?" he said.
"Because you are being a jerk-face!" she said as she laid back down and closed her eyes.
After a few minutes, they both fell asleep lying next to each other. After a while they both cuddled up against each other and slept next to the warmth of each others bodies.

The next morning Hermione was forced awake when she felt movement beside her. When she opened her eyes, she noticed a arm laying across her stomach. 'Who?' she thought. Then she remembered. 'We must have fallen asleep. Oh well, he is so warm.' she began laying back down when she caught a glimps of her clock. 'Oh no! I forgot to set the alarm! We are already almost ten minutes late for breakfast!' she thought. "Draco! Wake up! We are late for breakfast!" she yelled.
Draco set up and looked around a minute. He looked at the walls…'red and gold?'…then he glanced at the person who was shaking him…'Hermione?…oh yeah.'
"Come on Draco we are late!" she yelled, pushing him off of her.

Five minutes later they were dressed and ready to go. "So, did you sleep well?" Draco asked Hermione as they quickly walked towards the Great Hall.
She looked at him for a moment before saying, "Yes, I did. Did you?"
"I did. I had a good time sleeping with you, Granger." he said as he opened the door for her.
"Shhhh, someone could hear you!" she said as she walked in the Great Hall and strolled towards the Gryffindor table. "Hi Harry, Ron." she said with a smile on her face.
"Why are you late, 'Mione? Harry asked.
"Forgot to set my alarm." she replied, still smiling from ear to ear. She couldn't help it. She seemed to be in a unchangeable good mood. No one could get her down in the mood she was in now.
"Why are you smiling so much?" he asked.
"I dunno. Just happy, I guess." she replied and began to eat her breakfast.
