Chapter 48-
The news of Hermione's recovery spread through Hogwarts like a wildfire. Almost immediately, the whole school knew and were excited about seeing her.
Harry and Ron on the other hand felt horrible. Yes, they were ecstatic that Hermione had woken up, but neither boy was able to forgive himself for giving up on their best friend. Ron wouldn't even bring himself to go visit her. He was convinced that he didn't deserve to be her friend. This broke Hermione's heart. Everyday as she lay in the Hospital Wing, she would ask for Ron and everyday Harry or Draco would make up an excuse as to why he was not there. Hermione knew that something was up, but she couldn't fathom what it could be.
"Draco, tell me why Ron hasn't came to visit me." Hermione asked immediately cutting off what he was about to say. "Not what you have been telling me, but the truth."
"Hermione, I…"
"Please Draco, Ron is one of my best friends. I mean, both him and Harry have been odd, but at least Harry comes to visit once in a while. Ron hasn't came to see me since the first day that I was awake. Why?"
"He hates himself."
"Why!" Hermione shouted, alarmed at what Draco had said.
"Well, mainly because he gave up on you. He thought that you were going to die and he was ready to pull the plug on your life support."
"So? Everyone thought I was going to die. The only person who didn't give up on me was you." Hermione said, still dumbfounded by what she had just heard.
"Yeah, but he and Harry think that since they gave up that they are not the 'best friends' that they were supposed to be."
"Harry feels that way too?" Draco nodded. "I need to talk to them." Hermione decided and immediately started to sit up.
"No, wait until you are fully healed. It can wait." Draco said, trying to keep her from getting up.
"No it can't. Plus, I feel fine. There is no reason for me to still be in this bed anyway." Hermione said, placing a feather-light kiss on his cheek and standing up. She quickly changed her clothes, after having kicked Draco out of the room, and went to find her two best friends.
Amazingly, Hermione found them both in the Gryffindor Common Room. They were sitting in an excluded corner all alone. Hermione walked over to them. They didn't even noticed her, so she stood behind the two and cleared her throat.
Ron and Harry quickly turned, eyes widening at the site of the girl. "Hermione, what are you doing here?" Harry asked, standing up to give her a light hug.
"I have come to talk to the two of you." Hermione responded after hugging Harry.
"Actually," Ron began. "I have to go do some homework-" He trailed off as he stood up to leave.
"Ronald Weasley!" Hermione yelled causing the red-haired boy to freeze. "Get you behind over here and sit down RIGHT NOW!" she demanded.
Ron immediately walked back to the couch and sat down.
"Now," Hermione said in a sweet, sincere voice. "I understand that you two idiots think that you did something wrong back when I was unconscious and I want you to know that you are well and truly wrong! I can't believe that you guys would blame yourselves for anything! I love you and I know that you love me too! Do not worry about things that happened then, everything is back to normal now. Everything is going to different and much, much better! I want everything to be better and if one of you two screw that up by thinking that everything is about you then I am going to VERY mad! Do you understand?" she asked.
Harry and Ron sat shocked for a few seconds before nodding dumbly.
Hermione smiled and knelt down in front of Ron. He looked away, so she placed her hands on his cheeks and made him look at her. "Ron, I want you to know that I don't harbor any bad feelings for you about anything. You did nothing wrong in thinking I was dead. Everyone did. Do not blame yourself. I am alive and well and I do not want this to effect our relationship in any way! I love you!"
Ron nodded, a single tear sliding down his cheek. Suddenly a grin appeared on his face and he said, "Does this mean that you are going to leave the ferret and marry me?"
Hermione smirked before saying, "Sorry, dear can't, but I did happen to see someone walking down the corridor that you might like to meet."
"Huh? Who?" Ron asked.
"Guess you'll have to go find out, won't ya?" she replied smirking.
Ron jumped up and ran out into the corridor in search of the mystery girl.
"You know what, 'Mione?" Harry asked as Ron disappeared through the portrait hole.
"What?"
"You have been hanging out with Draco way to much! He is rubbing off on you!" he said pushing her gently.
Hermione laughed and shoved him back.
"Who is the girl in the hall anyway?" he asked.
Hermione just shrugged and said, "I guess you'll just have to wonder for a while, won't ya."
"There is a girl out there, right?"
"Of coarse!" she replied, laughing.
An hour later, there were three couples cuddling on the couches in the Head Common Room. Draco and Hermione, Harry and Ginny, and Ron and Tayler.
'Life is good…no, cancel that. Life is PERFECT.' Hermione thought as she snuggled closer to Draco. 'Although it is sad that school is going to be over soon, I can't wait until…well, yeah…'
AN-Well folks, that is the end…And no, there probably won't be any kind of sequel I don't see any reason for one. Well, thanks to all of my wonderful reviewers! I have to say that though it is sad that I am ending my first story, I am relieved. Now I can get the other two moving and possible start another one.
Yes, I had to bring Tayler back. Ron deserved to be happy too. It doesn't explain the reason why she did, but all that you need to know is that she did…for Ron. You guys remember Tayler right? From the Bahamas?
Well, anyway, thanks for everything! You all are great! Love yas!
Much Love, Gotta Love Drakie…
