Nothing But Happiness

Summary: Mac's POV. Mac feels nothing but happiness. MacStella.
I watched as Stella rode away from my house feeling nothing but happiness and satisfaction. For the first time since my wife died, I was happy.
I couldn't do this to her anymore. I couldn't do this to myself. I'd been living a lie for too long now making my life unbearable.
We'd spent the last few hours talking, joking around; having fun. She knows how I feel about her and I know she feels the same way. But it's the same old song and dance. Flirting harmlessly was causing more pain then it should.
I see it in her eyes when we talk, laugh and cry together (hell, we've done enough of it). She sees it in mine. We can't ignore it any longer. The longer we ignore it, the harder it will be. So I took a chance. As we were speaking I leant over and kissed her.
Surprisingly enough, she responded. It wasn't desire fuelled, more nervous than anything else. I was testing the waters and I'm certain that she thought that I'd realised what I was doing and pull away. When we did eventually pull away, I saw it again. The same emotion I'd been seeing for a while; love.
We kissed again. I leant further over to her; wrapping my arm around her waist, pulling her closer to me. She placed her hand on my chest, grasping my shirt, pulling me closer still. This kiss was full of desire. Everything I'd ever felt about her was put into this one kiss.
I'm a scientist so I knew oxygen was a big issue when it came to staying alive, so I pulled away slowly. She was smiling when I looked at her. Sparkles were dancing across her eyes, cheeks flushed, teeth showing. I smiled back.
"What was holding you back from doing that?" she said in a husky whisper.
"I don't know, but whatever it was, I'm glad it's gone." I smiled again, pulling her onto my lap so she was straddling me.
"I love you," she said, fumbling with my tie, trying to get it undone.
"I love you too."
