A/N: Well, here is chapter number two…hope you like it.
Disclaimer: Ditto.
"No, there aren't any pirates…why would there be pirates?" Peter asked Faye in a puzzled tone.
She rolled on to her back, "Oh, Never-never-land just seemed like the kind of place that would have Pirates," was her brief explanation.
The bemused boy gave her an odd look, and started to float on his back. Faye sat in her window seat, staring off into the night…everything looking magical as dusky blue shadows. She let out a contented sigh and murmured to herself, "It would be wonderful to see Never-never-land…"
Yes Peter, come on!— the young stars cried.
Oh Peter, think of all the fun you'll have!— whispered the night enticingly.
The wind swirled around the boy, while playing with Faye's hair –It is very boring there, maybe she'll change that…-
Peter thought for a second, and then smiled, giving his consent to the delighted instigators. He floated closer to Faye, "Maybe you could come back with me to Never-never-land," he suggested casually, his hands tucked under his head in the classic fisher man's pose.
She looked up at him, as if her daydreams floated around his head, "Oh could I?" she asked hopefully. She leaned forwards and her eyes shone, delighting the cocky child.
He smiled to himself, "If I wanted to take you, you could…" he trailed off with a side look.
She caught it, the look; the one that said 'grovel.' She quickly walked over to her dresser and pulled out a new nightdress, giving him a glare. With an offended tilt to her head, she stalked out of the room; much to Peter's amazement.
He floated there for a second then started to come after her, "Girl," he called, "Girl, please don't go away…"
Faye rolled her eyes from behind the locked bathroom door, while she changed into a clean nightgown.
He stopped in front of the door, seeing the light from the candle. "Girl, come out…I really would like you to go to Never-never-land." He called hopefully; for once he has decided to do something…it WILL get done. And Peter Pan has decided that Faye would go to Never-never-land.
She dropped the dirty, wet, and all around disgusting night gown on the floor…sighing to have something warm and dry on. "Oh you would?" she asked sarcastically, beginning to brush out her hair and pull it into a short braid.
There was silence on the other side of the door. Peter struggled with himself, wondering if he was willing to sacrifice his pride in order to win. For Faye and him were competing, if Faye won she wouldn't go to Never-never-land…and if Peter won; she would. Then he knew what to do, "Never-never-land really does need a girl," he began tentatively.
Faye rolled her eyes, not commenting, she muttered darkly as she finished and bound her hair. Peter continued…hundreds of forgotten conversations whirling through the back of his mind; soon to be forgotten again. "It's just not the same without a woman," he said, then a whispered voice ran through his mind, "A mother," he said softly, wonderingly.
Faye caught the tail end of his enticement, and opened the door. She looked at him, with a mystified taint to her features. Those last two words, they had meant something to him…a great deal to him.
For a brief moment some form of an understanding passed between them… They looked at each other, and for a fleeting moment; Faye saw something other than Never-never-land in his eyes. She swallowed a lump in her throat, sending it down to her stomach where it broke up into butterflies.
"Really?" she asked, quickly braking their gazed and heading back to her room; transfixed with the floor.
He looked after her, lost, then he jumped back onto the bandwagon, so to speak. He floated up behind her and said captivatingly, "Yes," he whispered right into her ear.
She whirled with a start, and he spun around behind her. She gazed down the hallway and slowly turned full circle. She looked above her with a nervous glance, Peter masterfully staying out of her line of sight. "Peter?" she asked anxiously.
He laughed lightly and floated in front of her, much to her relief. "Yes?" he asked innocently, with The Cocky Grin on his face.
She gave him a half hearted glare, then gave up and smiled. "I wish I could fly…" she said wistfully.
He smirked at her, "Well only I can," he said, doing a loop-dy-loop and flying into her room.
She ran after him, and watched him show off; doing stunts and flips around chairs and lamps. She was somewhat irritated at his boastfulness, but it was a wonder to see.
He finally landed lightly on a bed post, floating above it in a way that suggested he was sitting on it. "So will you go?" he asked enticingly, an alluring smile lighting his face.
Faye stopped and really thought…could she do that to her parents. How long would it be till she got back; if she got back? She looked up at him with an unsettled look, quite clearly asking him to 'get her off of the fence.'
He floated in front of her, "Every adventure you've every thought of will be there," he said, wrapping his web around her. She squirmed part of her saying no, and the other part desperately wanting him to convince her. He floated closer and said gently, "Everything you've ever imagined, ever dreamed or hoped for will be waiting for you," he said, wrapping a thread around her heart.
"Oooh," she breathed that far away look in her eyes.
He floated right behind her and once more whispered in her ear; though this time she was far from frightened. "Do you really want to miss that?" he asked her softly, honestly asking her…and forcing her to ask herself that question.
She sat up and shook her head, looking at him. "No, I wouldn't want to miss that…" she said, that faraway look still in her eyes.
He floated away, a disturbing look in his young eyes; he had won. Suddenly she jerked out of her reverie, "Would I be able to return home if…when I wish to?" she asked hesitantly.
A disgusted look crossed his features, that Faye fortunately missed. Then an odd smile crossed his face again… Maybe he could make this into another contest… He fixed a reassuring smile on and flew in front of her, "Of course you could come back," he shrugged, "If you wanted to."
She looked after him, then smiled, "Oh Peter," she breathed…just like every girl who came before her, "Oh I'd love to go to Never-never-land."
Unbeknownst to her, the stars, night, and wind cheered; this should be quite amusing. Peter Pan smiled dangerously, "Good."
