Another restless night.
Man don't you just hate it when you just can't fall asleep for no reason? Well, tonight was no exception for me. My stomach is growling, but I don't want to get out of bed. He will wake up if I tried to make a noise. I look to my side at the couch, but he is not there. Then it hits me: He's gone.
My dear, sweet Wolfwood is gone.
I walked over to the empty bed, still mussed up from when he had vacated it from the previous morning, the sheets smelling like an old cigarette. Yes, I remember...he must have had one when he was still awake. When he thought I was still asleep, I saw him by the wide open window, smoking. I took the sheets and hugged them closely to my chest, tears brimming and my eyes burning. Why does it always have to hurt so much? Why does it seem like a vacancy looms within my heart? Why am I even asking these questions anyway? The smile on his face when they found him haunts my memory, making me want to tuck away somewhere else forever.
A light shines through the window; the twin suns must be rising. Sempai will be up soon, and so will Mr. Vash. And as for me, I will have to face them with the same every day carefree style, smiling innocently like I always have. And maybe it will be for the better, after all Wolfwood would hate to see his Millie stay sad forever. No, he would want me to continue on, not like things never changed, but maybe because others would need me in the same way too.
"Millie?" Sempai's voice rang clear from behind my door. Well, here goes nothing. I put on my goofy smile, ready to face the day and move on. "Coming, Sempai!"
