A/N This fic was inspired by the song 'Heaven's already here" by collective souls. nice little ditty and just seemed appropriate.
Heaven's Already Here.
Sam.
I stare at her as she goes out to my truck to get the rest of the groceries.
She had agreed to come up to the cabin after years and countless invites and she just made me speechless.
She wants me to call her Sam.
She walks in and says to close my mouth or a bug might just fly in. I close it and turn to her as she makes her way to my kitchen.
"Carter I'll put the stuff away why don't you rest."
She sighs and comes up to me.
Call me Sam, were not Colonel or General here. Where thousands of miles from the base and were here as friends right?
I open my mouth and say, "okay Sam.
She smiles and says, "see its not that hard to say or remember."
She walks down the hall to see the rest of my sanctuary and I smile.
Who could bring me heaven, when heaven's already here
No more living in darkness. Now that love lights my way.
My light is walking down the hall right now she doesn't know that she is my way out of the darkness but she will know soon.
It gives me pleasure to know that she has finally decided to come away with me. Granted Teal'c and Daniel will be arriving later on but for now it's just us and a pond with no fish in it.
This is the beginning of many things. Hopefully a beginning of what we have waited for and almost lost.
She is my soul she is my life she is my light.
She comes back from looking around and says she love's my cabin.
She says she understands why I come up here to forget about the worries of the world that have been put upon my shoulders.
The pressures and the endless politics that came with the job and she understands why I love my safe haven. If she only knew I'd give it all up for her that I'm really considering leaving all the worries of the world behind me.
When I am here I have no clue of what is going on in the outside world this is my sanctuary that I want to share with her and my friends
Here I am just a man with no worries and on an elusive quest for fish.
I tell her that she has an open invitation to come when she wants.
She smiles and starts to wander around the living room she takes in all of the knick knacks that make up my refuge. The pictures of her and the rest of my family rest on top of the mantle.
She comes into the kitchen and starts to help me unpack the groceries. I could get use to this.
We live in times that uncertain but for now I am happy just to be by her side and wait to see what tomorrow brings.
Who could bring me heaven, when heavens already here.
