Alright so this is really the end of a story but tell me what you think it is anyway, you can probably guess the couple.
The sky stretched out across the world as clouds deepened from white to a reddish color, defending the sun from the dark. As the clouds stood strong the sun billowed itself into a mattress of hills, glowing like a dying ember.
Opposite the sun and its glory was a fickle moon that had begun to rise, sleepily stretching its lustrous gleam across the darkening sky like a white rose beginning to open. A shield of stars surrounded the pale orb and accompanied it to its journey to the heavens.
Below the sky and its wonders stood to people of uncommon decent. Not a single soul, besides themselves knew of this meeting, but soon enough the whole world would hear of their tale.
Calloused fingers slowly crept up soft skin into a mess of brown curls, then down again to touch lightly upon a pair of lips. Her mouth parted and let out a hot breath of regret. He noticed and removed his hand from her face.
"Please" she begged, "Please don't, I can't handle it".
"Can't handle what?" He asked, "Can't handle me, can't handle life, can't handle your friends? Or can you not handle this?" He said as his lips began to move towards hers, but they never made it.
"I can't handle any of it. It wasn't supposed to end up like this. You were supposed to die along with the rest of them and I was supposed to be happy with that".
"Would you really have been happy if I died?"
"No" she paused, "I wouldn't be happy. Even if I had never fallen in love with you, I would never be happy. Even if I didn't know what I was missing, I would not be happy".
"Good, I wouldn't be happy either" He smiled and kissed her forehead. "It'll be alright".
"Don't be stupid, it won't be alright. I don't need you to lie to me too, even if it is just to make me feel better. I think I finally need to hear the truth".
"Truth?" She nodded in reply. "The truth is that someone will win this war. If my side wins then you die. If your side wins, I die. Each way, one of us dies".
"One of us could change sides". She meekly suggested.
"If you think for one second that I would ever step over the line and move over to the light you are out of your mind. I love you, but I will never pledge myself to those people and their stupid ideas". He said.
"Well I don't plan on walking into the dark so I can kill my friends and family. I will never promise my life to some dark figure who wants to rule everyone with a black iron fist" she replied.
They both stood silent for a moment, and for the first time he looked up and saw what took place above his head, the sun and the moon, sharing the sky.
The wind blew lightly and helped push the stars in to place and tucked the sun in. He then smiled. She noticed his smile and gave him an odd stare, until he said,
"No one can see the wind. It has no color nor does it belong in the dark or the light. It is just there, existing peacefully with everything around it".
"I would like to be the wind" she said.
"We can be" he replied.
And so they let go of the strong grasp of reality each had held onto for so long. Hands parted and souls became a part of something that could not be seen.
A streamline of anguish, pain, happiness, care, memories, friends, family, promises, pledges, secrets, chance, and colors plunged down to a mess of rocks and foam until the water washed it all away.
The only things left were the golden sun, the silver moon, clouds that bled red, and the green grass below, all which moved with the wind.
please review! I would love to hear your opinions! I might actually make it into a story!
