Beans

"Come and get it!" Polfer, the cook the Aragorn had decided to take along with him on his trip, yelled so that they all could hear him.

Aragorn, Legolas, Elrond, Elladan, and Elrohir all made their way toward Polfer and the fire from the various places they had been previously.

"What is that wonderful smell, Polfer?" Lord Elrond asked as he sat down near the fire.

"Beans." Polfer replied happily.

Aragorn's face lit up, he loved Polfer's beans. He always added the right amount of the right spices and herbs and made his beans taste and smell wonderful.

Polfer set about serving the elves and human their servings of beans. Then they all dug in.

Aragorn finished most of his beans but had a few left on his plate. He put it behind him and leaned back on his hands, stretching his legs out in front of him. A few minutes later, he heard a noise behind him, like a sniffling sound. He turned around and saw a big, black shape coming toward him from the shadows of the woods.

Aragorn started backing away from it, towards Legolas who was sitting closest to him.

"What is it?" he asked to no one in particular.

"I don't know." Legolas said.

"A warg perhaps?" Elladan suggested.

"A warg? Don't be silly." Elrohir said.

"It looks like a warg to me." Elladan defended himself.

"Stop arguing." Lord Elrond commanded.

The 'warg' went up to Aragorn's plate and started sniffing at it. Then it quickly gobbled up what was left of the beans and lumbered back to the woods.

They all stared in shock and wonder at the retreating 'warg'.

Then Aragorn broke the silence by saying. "The warg at my beans!"

Everyone else chuckled softly.
