I am

Disclaimer: I own nothing

Summary: Was she, or wasn't she?

The question remained frozen in the air. 'What are we going to do now Buffy?' Why ask her she wondered? They were so good at changing sides, with her, against her, why did she have to keep proving herself.

'We do what we always do, we live' for him she thought. The one person, the one man who had stood by her till the end. He had lived for her, and he had died for her. She would do nothing but the same.

Dawn looked at her sister closely. She didn't know what had happened down there between Spike and Buffy, but she knew something had. He died for us all she thought in wonder. She had been so harsh on him, unfairly harsh. But I was so hurt, her mind whispered. He had left without saying goodbye. The one person she had thought would never leave had, twice now. Her gaze returned to the crater, to his grave. She moved to stand next to her sister, wrapping her arms around Buffy. What was that she had said, 'we live' ? Yes, she thought, that's what we have to do.

Giles turned to the group starring at the crater, to Dawn and Buffy, each with tears in their eyes. He knew what brought it on, Spike. He couldn't believe that he had saved the world, and I almost had him killed. Spike was right, he was jealous, feeling useless. Last time I felt like that I left, and look where it got me, he thought. I left my own daughter to fend for herself and she suffered greatly.

'Come on everyone, its time we were off' he called to the group. 'We need to get to a hospital'.

'Relax, old man, they are fine,' a whispery, musical voice said. Everyone turned and looked towards the voice. A girl, Dawns age, with long black hair and wearing a long gown was starring at them.

The door to the bus opened and the other Slayers poured out. Robin walked out, his wound entirely healed.

'Your mother send her live, Buffy, Dawn,' she said.

'Who are you?' Buffy whispered.

'Was he saying the truth down there, Slayer?' She answered. 'Do you or don't you?'

'What business is it to you?'

'We have an interesting person waiting to be sent to hell. I just wanted to make sure there were no other options.'

'What do you mean options?'

'That I cannot tell you? But what I need to know is this, were you saying the truth.'

'I don't know…' Buffy's voice faded off.

'What truth, what did you say to him Buffy?' Dawn turned to her sister, placing her hands on her hips.

'I told him I loved him,' Buffy replied

'And he didn't believe her,' the girl finished.

'Buffy' Dawn squealed. 'Are you?'

'I'm cookie dough…' Buffy began.

'Oh come on, you said that to Angel so if everything else failed you could still have him,' the girl interrupted. She glanced into the sky. 'I have watched Spike for years, since he was turned to be honest. Yes he has done unimaginable evil, but recently he has done more good then any other vampire I know of, including Angel. However, the bosses don't have a choice, he's a vampire, and has not done enough good with his soul to go to heaven. If I'm going to save him Slayer, we need your answer, are you or are you not in love with him?' the girl started to fade.

' I am' Buffy replied, but it was too late, the girl was gone.

In Los Angeles, Angel opened an envelope and Spike appeared.
