Go West
I have been staring out of my office window for hours now, looking at that giant stone ring, the Stargate Doctor Jackson called it. Jackson, poor son of a bitch, didn't even live to make it back, but we lost many good people. Who'd of thought, other planets with life, parasitical aliens, and Egyptian gods. When Colonel O'Neill told me about Ra's ship I knew there had to be others like it, there could not be just one. Technology doesn't work that way, a nation or race can build ships like that, not one man, or one alien. They knew where we were, they knew we were still alive, and that we are now a threat. They will come; they will come and take revenge on us for what we have done to them. And I don't want to be here to see it. I don't want my world destroyed when there is nothing I could do about it. I had no family; my wife had left me, no kids thank god. So what did I do? First thing was I did some thinking, if the stargate can only go to Abydos why are there 39 symbols and 7 chevrons? Why not just a big red button. Obviously the stargate can go other places, so I found myself one, someplace with a nice view, a lake, fish I could eat. And I packed, several pallets of goods, food, medicine, tools, weapons, clothes. And I left, turned my back on 29 years and 4 months of service to my country. Because I had seen enough war, I had seen enough destruction, I'd seen enough. I'll just retire on some other planet, and hope that earth ends without me. I wonder though, when it's my time to go, I wonder if I'll end up with all my friends, or if this planet has its own hell. Soon now, I'll find out.
