Lightning Crashes
Chapter 1: Pain
I don't feel the way I've ever felt.
I know.
I'm gonna smile and not get worried.
I try but it shows.
"I wish I could go somewhere else." Carrie said, through the tears that fell down her face. She had just gotten home from the funeral of her best friend who had been shot dead. She was locked up in her room, and she was clutching her Evenstar Pendant that her parents had gotten her for her sixteenth birthday. She was laying on her bed, her long auburn hair in a messy bun, and her face red from crying.
Anyone can make what I have built.
And better now
Anyone can find the same white pills.
It takes my pain away.
Carrie picked up the picture by her bed. It was her and Sharon- her dead friend- at the opening of Return of the King. They had both shared a passion for the movies and books. Carrie's parents had first gotten them into it when they told them the general story. Sharon's parents had been happy that their daughter was finally reading for fun, and let the obsession continue. Soon, Carrie and Sharon could only talk about The Lord of the Rings. Sharon, then introduced Carrie to Star Wars, The Matrix, Harry Potter, and, of course, Anime. The two girls were slowly dropping through the "ranks" at school until they were Geeks, but they didn't care, and they led healthy lives.
It's a lie. A kiss with opened eyes.
And she's not breathing back.
Anything but bother me.
(It takes my pain away)
Never mind these are horrid times.
Oh oh oh
I can't let it bother me.
Then, the jocks and preps started to make fun of them specifically. Constantly, Carrie and Sharon were confronted on the way home. They would sometimes go home bruised and cut, but their parents stood by them, and talked to the principal. It was after that, when Sharon got shot. She was at work, and she was ambushed by some of the jocks who beat her, and shot her with a gun.
I never thought I'd walk away from you.
I did.
But it's a false sense of accomplishment.
Every time I quit
Carrie had lost her only friend, and she wanted to die. She knew, though, that if she killed herself, she would only be doing a favor for the preps and jocks.
"Please take me away from here." She prayed, clutching her Evenstar pendant. "Pleaseā¦"
Anyone can see my every flaw.
It isn't hard.
Anyone can say they're above this all.
It takes my pain away.
She closed her eyes, and, still clutching the pendant, fell asleep.
It's a lie. A kiss with opened eyes.
And she's not breathing back.
Anything but bother me.
(It takes my pain away)
Never mind these are horrid times.
Oh oh oh
I can't let it bother me.
I can't let it bother me.
It takes my pain away.
It's a lie. A kiss with opened eyes.
And she's not breathing back.
Anything but bother me.
(It takes my pain away)
Never mind these are horrid times.
Oh oh oh
I can't let it bother me
A/N: Well, that's chapter one. The lyrics are Jimmy Eat World- Pain (great song).
