Prologue
Edward Longaim, Veteran Sergeant, Black Templars, Chapter LXIV, was in lead of an expedition on Mar Pas system, recently discovered by the astropaths of the Imperium, in charge of a basecamp with his mens : 8 proud veterans marines, loyal as ever, and his best friend Andris Leonheart, the best flamer ever seen. He had fought many wars with his squad, knowing each of them as well as his own pistol.
From the desert in front of them, we could hear nothing but the wind crawling around the tower of the camp… from the jungle in their back, a developed flora including an even most impressive fauna.
A voice called him. The sentinel. He hurried to the watch post, the lookout point something lurking on the desert plain. He looked at the snipe, after a few second he saw what they were searching for, without wanting to find it. A small hole was opened in the ground, but the things coming from it… Rippers! Starting from 4 to 5, then 20 to 40 at a time getting out from that hole, which was getting bigger each second, Tyranids were already on Mar Pas!
He jumped over the stairs, while the alarm was sounded, running as fast as he can, preparing the auto-cannon. He reached the weapon tower, there was laying what they had as their sole chance of survival in such a case: an Eldar distortion canon, given as an alliance from the Khalessan craftworld. He aimed at the hole. In one second, what was a fatal threat was reduced to the void, and the rippers with it. But as if it would have been too easy, an earthquake was felt in the ground. A big pillar of sand raised in the air, a worst thing appeared, what was thought to be a legend to afraid the brave, The Red Terror was charging, followed by gaunts species never seen before. Recharging the canon as fast as he could, Edward never saw what caused the downfall of this battle, behind the jungle trees, biovores, living organic canon, were firing spore mines at their camp. Hitting the canon in a direct hit, unleashing the warp power. The feeling of being ripped apart in two different dimensions, Edward felt it. Andris had nothing to do, The Terror coming on one side, flying mines, creating a rain of living darkness, ready to explode, defence towers were all destroyed, marines dying on the ground, succumbing to the explosive and poisonous acid spores. He began to chant to the Empire, while activating what the High Commander gave him, a teleport portal pod, disappearing in a flash, leaving behind his brothers-in-arms in the hell of the Tyranids…
