Notes: Kind of a spur of the moment thing. Not really a poem, not really a story.
With great power comes great responsibility,
Those were my last words to you.
You were going through changes,
And I wanted to help.
Maybe I didn't say the right things,
Maybe you just didn't want to listen.
After you stormed out of the car,
I thought about what you said.
I didn't want to give you that impression,
That's not what I wanted.
I waited for you in the car that night.
I wanted to talk to you again,
To tell you I understood.
But I never got the chance.
Things started to become dark.
I thought of you and May,
I thought I would never see you again.
Suddenly I heard your voice.
I looked around to find you,
And there you were.
I wanted to tell you goodbye,
I wanted to say I love you.
But I didn't have the strength,
And my world slowly faded.
Now I understand.
I know you didn't mean what you said,
I know you loved me too.
Now I know what happened,
And why you did what you did.
I watch you every day,
And I couldn't be more proud.
I watch you grow and love,
And become more than just a man.
I know you heard my last words,
And placed them deep in your heart.
Don't worry about obstacles and sacrifices along the way,
You'll conquer them.
Just follow your heart,
And always try to do what's right.
I will be with you,
Every step of the way.
Rember, with great power,
Comes great responsibility.
Oh, and your folks say they're proud too.
